Kelsey Out Of Control

Post from ShowBizSpy.

KELSEY Grammer has been branded “out of control’ and selfish by his closest pals.

The Frasier star rocked his inner circle when it emerged he had been cheating on his wife of 13-years, former Playboy model Camille Donatacci, with 29-year-old airline stewardess Kayte Walsh, who’s now pregnant with his child.

“Kelsey is out of control,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“It’s like he’s only thinking of himself and his own selfish needs — and everyone else including his wife and kids can go to hell. Camille is beyond distraught.

“Kelsey, who was admired by all of his friends for seemingly beating a years-long addiction to alcohol and drugs, is secretly boozing again.”

Recent reports claimed Kelsey’s divorce from Camille could cost him a cool $71m.

“The split has been anything but amicable. Camille was devastated when she found out about the betrayal – even more so when she discovered her husband’s mistress was pregnant,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper.

“Kelsey is in love with Kayte and simply wants to move on. But he’s bracing himself for a huge payout.”

However, Camille — who owns half of the star’s Grammnet Productions television company — is said to be seeking the payout for revenge, rather than monetary reasons.
“It’s not all about cash for Camille though as she’s extremely solvent in her own right,” said the source.

“But she remains a woman scorned. Camille feels humiliated and wants Kelsey to apologise for his mistakes.”

Camille married Kelsey in 1997, four years after Frasier — in which the actor played radio psychiatrist Frasier Crane — first aired.

Caroline Talks to Italia Living

Article from Italia Living.

An Interview with Caroline Manzo, by Loraine Pavich
Let me tell you something about my family,” — those infamous words say it all. Caroline is the epitome of a strong New Jersey woman; she is a devoted wife and mother of three beautiful “babies” – Albie, 24; Lauren, 22; and Christopher, 21 and she always makes sure to put her family first. Married for more than 25 years, her husband Albert runs The Brownstone, a very successful catering facility in Paterson, NJ. The business has been with the family for over 30 years and is one of the premiere event spaces in the state. Although Caroline spends the majority of her time running the household, she is also the owner of two successful businesses, Opus Properties, a real estate firm and 4 My Mom, a children’s accessories line. In addition, Caroline has just launched a new concept, Caroline’s Kitchen, a collection of licensed products that will focus on several of her great loves: cooking, creating a warm, wonderful home and taking care of her beloved family – including her precious puppies. Always looking to help others, Caroline is affiliated with both The Carolyn Gable Expect A Miracle Foundation, which helps single mothers and CROC, (Citizens Reunited to Overcome Cancer), a Foundation dedicated to helping cancer survivors overcome the daily challenges dealing with this disease. Often described as a feisty spitfire, Caroline manages to have it all – family, friends and a successful career. In her opinion, that is what makes her a Real Housewife of New Jersey.
What values from your Italian upbringing have you instilled in your children?
Tradition and loyalty

What is the best meal your mother taught you to cook?
My mother taught me how to cook so many things. One that sticks out and it is one my kids favorites that you have all seen on the show is sausage, potatoes and peppers in the oven. It’s the simplest dish to make and absolutely delicious.

Do your children ever ask you to prepare them different meals for each of them at the same time?
They try (laughs). At dinner time it would probably be no. But if its breakfast or lunch they put in their orders like I am a short order cook. Generally its what I am making I make. If Lauren is dieting I will do a variation of what I am making for her.

Do you prefer ravioli or manicotti?
Manicotti

Where in Italy do you love to visit?
I love the Tuscany region.

What is a typical Sunday at the Manzo house?
Insanity. It is whoever and whatever shows up. Its food and everybody just hanging around. Usually every time you see me were all in the kitchen. The kitchen is the heart of our house. I wanted to the kitchen to be the heart of our home and we had it specially designed to be that way.

Your favorite Italian romantic restaurant you and your husband love to go to?
We don’t generally do the flowers and candlelight thing. Its not so romantic but I just love Babbo. Anywhere I am with him is romantic so it doesn’t matter.

Do you watch any of the other Housewives shows?
Yes I do. I watch them all.

Do you have a lot of friends?
I don’t have a lot true friends but I have a ton of acquaintances. I have very few “friends” people that I know that through thick and thin will be there for me.

What is your favorite holiday to cook for and what do you prepare?
Christmas Eve. We do the traditional fish. As you well know in the traditional Italian home on Christmas Eve the meal is primarily fish. I don’t eat seafood so I will cheat a little bit and make something else for me and my son who is allergic. The meals go on forever.

What are your views on a career woman vs. a real housewife?
Being a housewife is a job that never goes away. It is 24/7. I think being a housewife and being mother is the most challenging job in the world. It is a job at that at one time can make you want to pull your hair out, and at other times gives you much gratification. I don’t think that there is another job on the planet that can give you that. However, I do have tremendous amount of respect for those the women that go out into the work force and work hard and become successful.

What do you do for yourself to escape from everyone?
I read. I love to read. Right now I am reading a booked called the Bucolic Plague. Its about two men who are life partners that have decided to leave their perspective craziness in NYC and go on a farm and raise goats and make cheese. It tells the story of their journey. I find it very funny, up lifting and entertaining.

You look better than ever, what are some tips for healthy Italian eating?
I think olive oil is my best friend. I use a lot of olive oil. If you do it smart I think Italian cooking is very healthy for you. Generally in the Italian culture you use fresh vegetables and herbs. I remember when I was young we had a farm in Upstate NY. We had this tremendous vegetable garden and we would go out there in the morning and pick zucchini and eggplant. My parents and grandparents would make a salad with all the vegetables from the garden with just olive oil.

Are you exercising and practicing portion control?
It is very much portion control but I am not that regiment. I do not have the will power to walk away from something that I love. I love cheese, I love bread, I love mortadella, I love sausage. I just can’t walk away from it. I eat small quantities. I also stopped drinking soda and high fructose juices. I drink a ton of water. I literally walk around with a water bottle in my hand. It clears the system out, hydrates your body and its good for the skin. I also go on the treadmill a few times a week.

Any summer plans with the family?
No, it has been a crazy year. The way our life its hard to plan. The only thing we planned was our anniversary to Italy. With the kids being older and my husbands work schedule our life is a bit chaotic. We grab it when and if we can.

Are you enjoying all of what is happening in your life now?
I am enjoying all of this. There are days when I want to go under the covers which is typical in life but this is a truly a great time.

Loraine Pavich has had a diverse career in publishing with several successful magazines, and is currently Bookings Director for OK! Magazine.

Drama Galore At RHONJ Reunion

Post from Babble.

Wow. You can always expect a whole heaping load of Garden State drama when viewing an episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but from the looks of the preview, what goes down at the reunion has escalated to a new level of crazy.

There’s accusations of drug use and sleeping with married men, death threats, an appearance by Kim G. and fighting, fighting, fighting. Teresa stands over Danielle and screams “Bitch, I’m going to pin you down,” throws a pillow at her and gets rough with Andy Cohen when he tries to restrain her. It’s apparently too much for even Danielle to handle and she walks off the set.
It’s hard to watch and hard to look away.

Do you watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey? Don’t be afraid to admit it, we all have our guilty pleasures. But merely watching vesus living are too totally different things. You really have to live in some kind of crazy reality or extravagant existence if you dress your kids in matching outfits like these Teresa Giudice of The Real Housewives of NJ put her daughters in, outfits complete with bloomers and petticoats.

And these pink and leopard ensembles weren’t just to go to a ‘Little Bo Peep goes Safari Tea Party’ in Franklin Lakes…She had these outfits custom made and brought all four outfits with them on their family trip to Italy, now that’s committing to a look. If you feel like you’d like to interject a bit of Teresa’s Jersey style into your little princess’ wardrobe you, yes you can pick them up directly from the designer Cilla Sebasitan right here. But be warned, this ‘Marie Antoinette’ layered dress and pant set ain’t cheap. It goes for $240 and you can order it here.

@LyndaRHODC Fake Twitter Busted

Post from The Washington Examiner.

By: Katy Adams and Nikki Schwab
Well, it was fun while it lasted. A Twitter account claiming to represent “Real Housewives of D.C.” cast member Lynda Erkiletian provided some of the snarkiest commentary throughout Thursday’s episode of D.C.-based reality TV series.
“Somebody needs to be leaving Paris and its not Stacie,” LyndaRHODC Tweeted, making a jab at the show’s most notorious couple. (You can guess who).
But by Sunday, the Twitter account had disappeared, with Erkiletian revealing on her Bravo.com blog that it was a fake. “I have enjoyed reading most of your comments and I would be Tweeting like crazy right now, except that someone has hijacked my name,” she wrote.
In the meantime, she’ll simply stick to blogging.

WHEN OPPOSITES ATTRACT
by stacie turner

Before Real Housewives of DC (unlike the other ladies and Paul), Jason and I had never met the Salahis or had any interaction with them personally or professionally. We knew nothing about them: their finances, their history, how they roll, none of that. I suppose we could have “researched” them, but who does that? We don’t.

You can probably tell by now, we love wine. So at Mary’s birthday dinner, when I discovered that the Salahis owned a winery (Oasis), and Tareq proclaimed himself as an “Ambassador” for the Virginia Wine Association, I invited them to visit Sugarleaf Vineyards, owned by our good friends Lauren and Jerry Bias. Every fall, they host friends and family for a harvest party on their 130 acre vineyard outside Charlottesville, Virginia. We take the kids down for tractor rides, great food, and for the adults – wine sippin’ all day (no driving). To be clear, all this happened WAY BEFORE the White House dinner incident – (so no, Jason and I are not that crazy). Make no mistake: Sugarleaf Vineyards (unlike the now defunct Oasis) is LEGIT. Their wine was selected and served by the White House at this year’s Governor’s Ball!

In retrospect, I wonder if the Salahis were expecting a red carpet affair at Sugarleaf, because they rolled up in a big white stretch limo, dressed to the “nines”. We, on the other hand, were chilling in jeans—after all, we’re in a vineyard in the mountains, tossing balls around with the kids and making sure they stay out of the lake. Besides looking like they were at a movie premiere, Tareq and Michaele were gracious to our friends. They brought a bottle of Oasis wine to share and really seemed to enjoy both the visit and the Sugarleaf wines.

While strolling among the vines, I mentioned that we were going to Paris in a few days and flippantly said, “you should go” (Big Ballers). Jason’s brother Adam, aka Beat Assailant (B.A.), has lived in France over 10 years where he is a hip-hop sensation (who knew the French loved rap music? It’s the biggest market after the U.S.). He was dropping his 3rd album, celebrating a hit single called “Spy” and headlining a sold-out concert at the historic Elysee Montmartre! Truth be told, I seriously didn’t think that anyone would book a trip to Paris with 72 hrs notice for a concert (except maybe to see Prince or Bono). Jason and I actually work every day (and have children to consider), so we have to plan these things in advance. Apparently, a quick jaunt to France was no biggie to the Salahis!
We did not talk to the Salahis after the vineyard visit–so imagine my surprise when we received a 7:00 am call at our hotel in Paris from Michaele —“Hi Love…we’re here”. WHAT? WOW. So I can vouch for the fact that the Salahis are spontaneous and will “jet set” for fun. And–they didn’t crash Paris. While I certainly don’t agree with their decisions (and behavior) of late, I can say that they have been nothing but nice towards Jason and me from the outset. We drank Dom Perignon on the balcony of their lavish suite (overlooking Place Vendome) and danced like fools at the concert to 5 encores!
Personally, I SO admire people like Jerry, Lauren and Adam who follow their passions, conquer their fears and go for it! Jerry Bias wanted to create great wine so he bought land and a grape vine and started his vineyard from scratch. Do you know how hard that is to do?!?! Adam/Beat Assailant — moved to Paris to pursue his music career—not knowing a soul in the business or a lick of French. Ten years later, he is a recognized name there, is fluent in French, and has produced three popular albums! What was also cool (that you didn’t see on TV)–was our family dinner in Paris at Jason’s cousin Charmaine’s flat. We had a big contingent of family and friends join us to celebrate. It was so nice to gather with my other family—even a million miles away from home.

Perhaps the atmosphere of family on that trip compelled me to share with Michaele, a journey I’ve been on for the past 9 years. It wasn’t until my parents were deceased and I had a medical need to know my birth history while pregnant, that I became curious about finding my birth parents. This led me to discover that I am bi-racial with a Nigerian father! Imagine my surprise to find out that I am AFRICAN American with a nuclear family connection to Africa — but it also opened a door and a deep desire to know my roots and heritage, not just for me but also for my children.

In sharing this story, for the first time, I saw a “different side” to Michaele. A calmer, more engaged, more down to earth side. The only catalyst I can point out to explain the difference is that she was alone (no Tareq –for the first time, ever!). So I saw a glimpse of “that girl”, originally known as “Missy”. The girl that Lynda and Mary remember (and liked) from “back in the day”. I don’t really know who the infamous Salahis are now without their media costume. We will find out together as the show progresses. Earth to Missy?…….

Kim G. Thinks Teresa's Stuff Should Be For Sale On A Folding Table On Mulberry Street

Post from Absurd to Sublime.

Kim Granatell has been sending out tweets all day, taunting Teresa Giudice to engage in a tweet war. It all started when Teresa called her “elderly on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Today, August 22, was the original date of the Auction, postponed until October.

Photo:Tom/CelebrityMagnet
•Love my $80,000 Chiinchilla jacket that arrived from Florence, Italy. I know mine was not borrowed from my sister-in-law Kim D @ Posche!! about 2 hours ago via TweetToGo

•Google “Planet of the Apes” (the movie), the character “Bright Eyes”, and guess who looks like her and has her forehead??? about 3 hours ago via TweetToGo

•$1000.00 boat on wheels? My haircut and highlights cost more!! How pathetic. And in a backyard no less and no pool??? about 4 hours ago via web

•I know my railings are staying in my house and no one is taking them away…MINE are paid 4.. Scamming ieventually catches up to u!!! about 5 hours ago via TweetToGo

•$8000 window treatments. My kitchen alone cost more that that. Must be Bed, Bath, & Beyond Specials.

Then, this story at radar online

The auction of The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice’s belongings has one confirmed buyer, and she has major plans for the items.

Kim Granatell, her frenemy on the show, told RadarOnline.com that she thinks Teresa’s household items aren’t worthy of an estate sale. “Her things should be for sale on a folding table on Mulberry Street”

However Kim told RadarOnline.com she was going to the auction and was bringing her checkbook. “I’m going to buy everything and re-sell it on eBay,” she said. Kim plans to donate everything to the Emmanuel Cancer charity.
The auction was originally slated to take place on August 22 but has been postponed until October 3. Kim and her partner in crime Tom Muro plan to be present at the auction and clean house. Literally.

The same company that organized the auction of Grammy-award winning singer Whitney Houston’s sale in 2007 exclusively told RadarOnline.com that they expect Teresa Giudice’s auction to be more popular. Houston’s auction was in an old warehouse in New Jersey, but this one promises to be a higher level event.

“This one is a beautiful home in New Jersey on a Sunday. So, I think more people will show up.”

In the meantime, Teresa Giudice has been quiet…too quiet. Never refer to a woman’s age while dissing her, especially when she can buy and sell you.

Lynda Not Amused By Comedy Central

Article from Page Six, The NY Post.

"Real Housewives of DC" star Lynda Erkiletian has gotten satirists who questioned her modeling agency's legitimacy to knock it off -- and one to apologize.

To play up her political connections, Lynda boasted on the Bravo show, "We cater to ambassadors and dignitaries." That prompted writers at Comedy Central and Gawker and an independent blogger to wonder why ambassadors and dignitaries would ever need models.
Photo: Wire Image

Erkiletian's lawyer, Mark Lane, wrote to Comedy Central and its parent, Viacom, threatening legal action for suggesting in a blog post that she's running an escort agency. On top of demanding that the post be removed and the joke be made known as false, Lane wants Comedy Central honcho Tony Fox to write a letter of apology to Erkiletian.
Lynda ErkiletianGawker's Richard Lawson was also threatened with a suit for writing, "Lynda is one of the biggest high-class pimps in Washington." And DC blogger and New York Social Diary columnist Carol Joynt was asked to take down her post for mentioning Lawson's line when she questioned whether Erkiletian was "outing her business." Joynt was accused of "working in concert" with Lawson for posting on her blog, "Swimming in Quicksand," "I get a greater glee from reading Richard Lawson's recaps on Gawker.com. He's the money."
Lynda struck back in a Bravo blog on critics, explaining how she services DC's elite. "OK everyone, calm down, and shame on YOU!" she said. "Embassies host cultural and philanthropic events that often include an element of fashion, which is how we 'cater to ambassadors and diplomats.' "
Joynt and Comedy Central took down the posts. Joynt went further on her blog and apologized 14 times to Erkiletian for each count of alleged defamation cited by Lane.

"I just followed the letter," Joynt said. "I don't think you can sue me for being a fan of Richard Lawson." Lawson didn't get back to us. A Comedy Central rep had no comment.

Kim And NeNe Not Getting Along

Post from Radar Online.

Sparks are flying behind the scenes on The Real Housewives Of Atlanta as NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak’s relationship goes from bad to worse, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

The pair - who have endured a love-hate relationship since the Bravo network reality show first began - is NOT getting along again and it was all triggered by a fight on Season 3.
Photos:Bravo

And RadarOnline.com has learned things have gotten so bad that NeNe is now refusing to travel with the other cast members because she feels alienated by Kim.

A source close to the show told RadarOnline.com: “Things got rough again between NeNe and Kim after they were filmed having a fight for the new series at a hotel in Buckhead, Atlanta.”
“NeNe has been saying a lot of nasty things about Kim and her reported relationship with 24-year-old Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann. And Kim has been taunting her about dating NFL player Charles Grant although she’s married to Greg Leakes.”

The source continues, “Both women are not getting along very well right now and this could be NeNe’s last season on the show. She has got a successful slot on one of the Atlanta morning news shows and she is trying to raise her profiles in other areas too.”

“It is going to be very interesting to watch Kim and NeNe when they start promoting the new series which will air later this year.”

In Season 3 viewers will see sparks fly between new cast member, entertainment attorney Phaedra Parks and both NeNe and Kim.
While the other new cast member model Cynthia Bailey will also have some colorful storylines too as she interacts with her castmates.

Original cast member Lisa Wu Hartwell will appear in a few episodes of the new series with her husband retired NFL star Ed Hartwell when Season 3 debuts on Bravo later this year before bowing out for good.

RHONJ Banned From Country Club

Post from Gawker.

By:Matt Cherette
Remember that Real Housewives of New Jersey episode with the epic (read: trashy) weave-pulling/fight between Danielle and Ashley/everyone at the North Jersey Country Club? (Watch here.) Well, a tipster emailed us a letter from the club... they've all been banned!
This afternoon, a tipster emailed us a scan of a letter that—presumably—was sent to all North Jersey Country Club members on July 19 (a week after the episode aired). Shockingly, the club was not happy with the Bravo ladies' behavior and wants to make sure that everyone else there knows they're never to return, weave-pulling or no weave-pulling.

Here it is in all its, "We made a mistake, they're banned for life, please don't leave the club!" glory.

Real Housewives Of D.C. Blog
By: Jill Zarin

Will we find a housewife to fall in love with on this show? After three episodes I’m still not sure.

So far Micheale is one of my front runners. Although she seems a little ditsy at times, I love watching how much in love her and husband Tareq seem to be. Last week when he was buying her birthday presents; it reminded me of Bobby when he spoils me. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with a man spoiling his love! I think she is very pretty and I like her voice. It has a throaty sexy tone. I do agree she is very skinny, (as Lynda constantly reminds us!) but I’m not sure it’s as much of a problem as Lynda is making it out to be. She could have been born with a fast metabolism or have a stomach issue. I’d rather be a little “full” than too thin..but that is just me. It might be as hard for her to put on weight as it is for me to take off. If Lynda was really concerned about Michaele’s health she’d recommend a nutritionist instead of a cheeseburger. I think Micheale is lovely. She has a warm smile. Is it genuine? Only time will tell.

After tonight’s episode I still think Lynda seems surly and a little mean towards Michaele. I would like to note, no judgment passed on Lynda just yet. I know personally that a lot can be done within editing. I do think Lynda feels empowered to bash the Salahi’s in her interviews, since the public and press hate them. I personally have not yet seen anything to dislike them for, but it’s early. I do think that there could be a lot more to the back story between Lynda and Michaele than is being shown and I hope we get a little more insight on that. Why would Lynda say that Michaele seems so stressed and needs to leave her husband? That not what we’re seeing. What does Lynda know that we don’t? On a funny note, Lynda’s eyebrows remind me of Danielle’s! One thing that I definitely do like about Lynda is her boyfriend, Ebong. He’s an extremely handsome and smart man.

It’s the third episode and I still feel that I don’t know much about Mary. I was shocked to learn she has five kids! Her husband is very attractive and funny. She seems likable and I’m sure she’s glad to have Lolly back home with her. Hopefully I’ll have more to say about Mary soon!

Cat. She sure has come out with a bang hasn’t she? Being new to the Washington scene, she’s obviously trying too hard. She is not editing herself at all. Last week when she went to Stacey’s Sunday dinner party at Aunt Francis’s house, she showed no appreciation at all for that incredible meal Aunt Francis cooked. She should not have left without showing her appreciation. Perhaps she had none? I don’t buy the excuse people are using that she’s British and they’re misunderstood. Manners are manners! Tonight she stated that her husband was out “swanning around” whilst she was taking care of kids, dogs and only getting six hours of sleep a night. With comments like that I’m not surprised divorce rumors are everywhere. Her husband has a very prestigious and demanding job and she needs to respect that. I would never disrespect Bobby’s work schedule. I appreciate how hard he works and I support him any way I can.

In Cat’s defense, I couldn’t believe that Erica took on the role of Kim G. tonight by sticking her nose into a conversation that it didn’t belong in, with the obvious intent to start a fight. Cat did seem genuinely upset and she really didn’t do anything to deserve the comment. Especially when it was actually Lynda who made the original comment. I was glad Paul was there to diffuse the situation.

By the way, who is this Paul Wharton? He seems like a nice enough guy and I guess he’s a stylist. But why do they all throw him big birthday parties? Does anyone know this guy’s story?

I think I like Stacey. She seems very smart, well spoken, and is a loving mother. She also seems to be very into politics. I’m certainly not surprised by this as she does live in D.C. and obviously politics are everywhere. I am curious how well this fits into “Real Housewives.” When you watch a “Real Housewives” episode do you want to see political debate or not? I, in true political fashion, am still undecided. Let me know what you think.

Stacey has a lot of depth and I am glad she is letting us in on her journey of finding her birth parents. This is at the moment the most interesting and personal story on the show. I get the feeling that this is going to be very emotional to watch.

I am going to end this by stating that I am giving all the girls a clean slate as I have never met any one of them. I am not going to make conclusions about the White House scandal until it comes up on the show. I want to be fair to all of them and to all of you by judging what I see when see it. I am only commenting on what we see together on the TV screen, but I know from personal experience that is not always the truth. Often times there just isn’t enough time to show everything, but had we seen it, we would come to a very different conclusion.

Only time will tell which D.C. Housewife will break out of this pack and be our favorite. It will be fun to watch.

Kelsey Wants To Nest In NY

Post from Digital Spy.

By Clare Wiley
Kelsey Grammer has reportedly been seen house-hunting in New York.

The Frasier star has been apparently looking for a home in Manhattan with pregnant girlfriend Kayte Walsh.

A source said to the Daily Express: "They've set their hearts on living in this part of town. They're in a hurry to settle down as soon as possible."

Grammer's former wife Camille Donatacci filed for divorce from the actor last month, citing irreconcilable differences for the split.

RHODC Fact Check

Article from The Washington Post.

"This looks a little bit staged": D.C. "Housewives" recap and fact-check (#3, Aug. 19)

By: Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts

Welcome back to "The Real Housewives of D.C." -- the episode in which the 'Wives promote their friends' and loved ones' projects, not just their own, before a national audience -- and our weekly recap, analysis and fact-checking. But first, a note about last week's episode, where we failed to note the first key example of local business back-scratching, because it was just a little too subtle...

The barn and field where the Salahis treated Mary Amons and Cat Ommanney to a day of polo lessons? That was actually the headquarters of Destination Polo of Middleburg, Va., run by longtime Salahi pal Doug Barnes (whom we quoted in this biographical story on the couple). Unlike their mystery mansion, the Salahis never implied the field was theirs, so no gotcha here. DP only got sideways credit in that scene, with Tareq wearing one of their shirts -- but anyway, now you know.

This week's episode opens with a Housewife promoting, well, her own project for now. Cat, in her pretty yellow house in Chevy Chase, is meeting with the editor of her forthcoming memoir, "Inbox Full." The editor tells her the book needs to "convey the enormity of what you've done" -- an affair of some kind. (This book is really getting published, apparently, by a real publisher, because you know what helps you get your memoir published? Getting cast as a Real Housewife. At least a third of them have put out a memoir, cookbook, self-help book or some other kind of text, thanks to their Bravo credentials.)
Next, we see a vineyard glowing in the sunlight, grapes plump on the vine. The Salahis' troubled Oasis Winery? No! This, we learn is the episode's next product-placement: Sugarleaf Vineyards, owned by Stacie Turner's friends Jerry and Lauren Bias. (Wahoowa! Jerry Bias was a classmate of mine at the University of Virginia, a much-admired and much-awarded student leader who it turns out has become not just a hugely successful hedge-fund trader but the owner of his own vineyard and winery just south of Charlottesville in North Garden, Va. And what do I have to show for myself? I hate Bravo.) Stacie informs us that Sugarleaf is the only African-American-owned vineyard on the East Coast (this appears to be true), and that the White House served a Sugarleaf wine at a National Governor's Association dinner (true; 'twas their 2008 Petit Manseng). Stacie and Jason Turner are hanging out with the Biases when who should show up in a white limo (no police escort this time, whew) but the Salahis. Tareq of course offers a bottle of Oasis. Then they go in to meet Daniel, the winemaster, for a tasting, and Tareq lays some fancy French terminology on him, and does the "I'm getting some fresh melon and some nice citrus" wine-snob thing.
Then the Turners and the Salahis venture out into the vineyard for some totally natural chitchat that certainly was not prompted by the producers. "What do you guys think about Obama?" Stacie asks. Says Tareq: "I'm excited about his views on the two-state solution." (Tareq's father, Dirgham, is an immigrant of Palestinian descent.) Michaele asserts that "he's about bringing us all together... He tries to pull everybody together, the red and the blue, to make us the red, white and blue." And then the producers let her prattle on some more, and it's not very kind. Lots of eye-rolling from the Turners behind her back.

Then the Turners tell the Salahis about their upcoming trip to Paris to see a concert by Jason's brother. (Adam Turner is the frontman of a jazz-inflected hip-hop group called Beat Assailant -- and while my international Googling skills are not up to the task of confirming Stacie's assertion that he had "the number-one single in Paris," it appears from his MySpace page that they do draw quite the crowd in France.) With that, the Salahis decide to come along. Says Tareq: "We are known to do spontaneous things." (In our extensive biography of the controversial couple, friends state that they were known for living large and fun times; the Post investigation also found a trail of unpaid bills.) Says Stacie: "Tareq and Michaele are big ballers if they come over to Paris with three days notice."

Lynda Erikiletian, at the Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase, Md. (just a few feet over the D.C. line), is helping to stage a fashion show for annual cancer fundraiser Key to the Cure. The arrival of Mary Amons prompts Lynda to announce that "we're fresh out of tequila." (Feeling bad for Mary, always the butt of the joke.) And they start talking about the drama at the Paul Wharton's birthday party, which concluded with Michaele getting mad at Lynda for suggesting she needed to gain weight. (Does this seem like impossibly thin stuff to stretch out over three episodes? Remember, at this point, the Salahis had not yet shown up uninvited at the White House, so producers may have thought this was the most drama they were going to get.) Mary defends the Salahis' wines: "I'm a fan of their reds." Lynda is "turned off by his need to be front and center." She tells the camera she thinks Tareq has been a bad influence on Michaele. (Note: This is the eternal debate among those who know them well.) She tells Mary that Michaele "used to be centered, ten pounds heavier, and a beautiful soul. And I think she has a beautiful soul that has been suffocated."

Time to go to Paris! The Salahis, back in their mystery mansion (which a friend tells us was a loaner for the shoot, somewhat more glam than their actual place in Front Royal), are packing excitedly; Michaele agrees to limit it to "two and a half bags." Jason Turner asks the camera, "are these two white folks really going to get on a plane and go do the hip-hip experience?"

Cat meets with Lynda in a Georgetown rowhouse that seems to be the offices of Lynda's modeling business, T.H.E Agency. Over chardonnay, Cat tells her about her book: "Falling out of love in my husband, and I fell in love with a married man... hilarious escapades; inappropriate lovers -- really inappropriate lovers!" (Is she going to mention her brief 2006 hook-up with Prince Harry? Because that was really inappropriate!)

Lynda wonders what effect this will have on Cat's husband Charles -- and then delivers to the camera the latest in the series of Rules of Washington that she and Beltway Lifetimer Mary are always called upon to outline: "D.C. being as small at it is, his job is on the line! He is a WH photographer!"
Mary and her husband Rich dine at Inox, the well-reviewed fine-dining establishment in McLean (which closed abruptly in May, before it could reap the publicity boost of a two-minute Housewives cameo). Rich hasn't noticed that Mary's hair has gone "a little lighter." She explains that she's going to throw a party for salon owner Ted Gibson, to help him "get together with some people in the media... I wanted to help him get introduced to some of the important people in D.C." Then they chortle about how nutty the Salahis are. "They are very splashy, very unusual for Washington, says Rich, owner of multiple pairs of psychedelic paisley pants (which got him on Washingtonian's best-dressed list -- no, really, in real life!). Mary tells the camera with carefully calibrated levels of foreshadowed doom: "I'm sure there's not going to be any drama at this party."

And now, back at the Ommanney house, Cat's young daughters chattering merrily with their stepdad, who is just back from a work trip. "The girls are always really excited when Charles comes home," Cat tells the camera warmly. "The first time he met Jade and Ruby they bonded immediately." Then Charles tells her he has to go to New York on assignment -- "Goldman Sachs, which has pretty much never let anyone enter its doors" -- and she turns sour, telling the camera that Charles was supposed to shoot the cover for her book, but he's leaving instead. (Okay, big revelation here: Some of these interviews were conducted last year, during filming, while others were conducted just a couple months ago. The only time you can tell the difference is during Cat's sessions, and it's unintentionally very poignant. When she speaks warmly of Charles and her daughters, it was clearly last year -- well before their recent split -- because she has the bangs she had during taping and, well, she's speaking warmly of her husband. When she snarks about him leaving town, it was clearly more recently, because her bangs are all grown out, as they were on the recent press tour -- and well, you can hear the tension in her voice. Also, she's markedly thinner now. It's kind of sad.) The scene ends sourly, Cat complaining that she hasn't had enough sleep, stuck at home with book and the kids while he's out "swanning around," and Charles is like, I'm not the one who's swanning around, and she says, "seriously, chill."
Drama! It finally arrives in this episode, and naturally, it's courtesy of Paul Wharton, the hardest workin' man in reality TV, the guy who keeps the artificial plot in motion. His publicist (!) Charlotte comes to see him at his apartment; his hair is at its frizziest. She announces that shortly before his birthday party, ostensibly hosted by Michaele Salahi, she got a call from the Salahis' attorney demanding that she put in writing a promise that the Salahis are not held financially responsible for the party. (Sources close to the show tell us that this demand was in fact issued. On her Bravo blog -- why have we not been reading this? -- Michaele says she had simply been asked to lend her name to the invitation, and that they issued the letter to make sure the show would not try to portray them as ducking out on a bill. Unclear why, if she weren't hosting in any official capacity, she would be giving the order in the previous invitation to invite as many guests as the club could hold -- but as Michaele herself says, "This is TV.")

Paris! (It was when we heard that Bravo had followed the Turners to Paris that we realized she was pretty definitely a Housewife.) Stacie and Jason reconnoiter with the Salahis, who at their hotel brandish what Jason declares to be "a $1,000 bottle of Dom Perignon!" Says Stacie: "He's extravagant in everything he does." (Yup.)
Back in McLean, Mary talks to Paul, who takes this plotline into second gear "I feel a little unsettled about the party," he says. He notes that the Salahis, while acting as hosts, "didn't pay for anything." Mary takes this moment to explain another Rule of Washington: "In D.C. etiquette says if you are hosting the party that means you are paying for the party." (Okay, let's just stipulate that I've been to a birthday dinner or two where we, the guests, have been expected to pick up the check -- so maybe we're really not that much better than you rabble in the rest of the country.)

At the concert in Paris, the Turners explain that his brother Adam "is introducing an entirely new genre of music" to French people. Michaele tosses her hair around like Cher back in the day. "Oh, you can tell Michaele is a party girl!" Stacie tells the camera. Says Jason: "She was trying to dance up on Stacie... It's all good!" Tareq declares that this is "the best time I've ever had" and that "the Salahis are going to be hanging with the Turners" from now on (and we're reminded of his promise/threat to Matt Lauer that "next time, we're going to come sit on your couch.").

Brief scene with Mary in McLean, having what looks to be a mid-afternoon glass of wine as she catches up with 14-year-old Meghan, What did you learn in school today, Meghan? "They had an assembly about sexting." Mary's all, what? Meghan gets the subtitles previously reserved for British people. "It's like, you send nude photos to, like, people, and then it goes around." Says Mary: "I'm not ready for you to be even hearing about this." Retorts Meghan: "Well, you put me in public school." Well played, Meghan.

In Cady's Alley of Georgetown, Cat poses for her book cover -- black sheath dress, heels, shopping bags, sunglasses, cellphone -- but she's not liking the setup. "This looks a bit staged." (Since when do any of you worry about that?) But then who should show up unexpectedly but Charles. He whisks her off to the Dupont Circle Metro, where he photographs her in a leopard-print coat on a stalled elevator. "He's so clever" she tells the camera (and OMG, she doesn't have bangs! You can tell she's having to try hard to sound warm about him, though).

Back in Paris, Stacie and Michaele are coming back from a shopping and bonding trip. They pause for a heart-to-heart with the Eiffel Tower in the background. (This looks a bit staged.) Stacie confides that she was adopted at the age of six months, that she tracked down her birth mother, but that they had a falling-out because her mother wouldn't help her find her birth father. (Stacie recently founded a charity to support girls in foster care; she kicked it off earlier this summer by taking a group to see the World Cup.) Michaele tells the camera that she feels flattered that Stacie shared this story.

Mary goes to the Dupont Hotel (formerly the slightly shabby Jurys Hotel, it recently got a modish makeover and new name) to meet Ted Gibson and Jason Backe. They are described in chryons as "celebrity hair stylist" and "celebrity colorist," respectively. Mary tells the camera that "I would consider Ted and Jason besties, for sure." Also, that "Ted knows I know some key players in the fashion and social world of D.C.," which is why she's throwing this party. Jason validates this: "All we had to do was put your name on the invitation and it went from six [RSVPs] to 40!" (So... they put out the invitation first, and THEN added her name? The Rules of Washington are so complex.)

The Housewives start to pile into the hotel suite for some hairstylin' -- but first, a little trash-talk about the one who isn't there: Jason divulges that after Paul Wharton's party, he was coloring one of the guests who told him that "Tareq came over and said, I hope you're having a great time because I spent a lot of money on this party." (!) And then Lynda warns that she better be seated far from the Salahis.

So, the party! It's downstars at Café Dupont. (True story about this party: One of our colleagues, Robin Givhan, was invited, and she went, knowing little other than that it was a party for Ted Gibson, an acquaintance. She got there and was surprised to see it was a made-for-TV affair. Michaele, whom she had never met before, hugged Robin like an old friend, and she became aware of the fact that everyone was mic'd up. A clipboard girl chased her around trying to get her to sign a nondisclosure agreement and waiver to let her image be used on film, which she declined to do because -- hey, reporters can't nondisclose! So finally they told her she'd have to leave before everyone sat down, so she was totally cheated out of dinner that night.)

Paul's hair is flatironed tonight. He tells the camera that he has "a little beef with Michaele" but he's decided to let it go. Lynda makes some snarky comments that I've already forgotten (because, look, people I know! There's Stephanie Green, who at the time wrote a column for the Washington Times before they purged about half of their staff; and Tara Palmeri, who used to write for the Washington Examiner before she moved to the New York Post; and Matt Glassman, a producer with NBC4). Then there's some girlbonding, and Lynda makes a comment to Stacie about how she can be "our Diana Ross" in their little imaginary girl group, and Stacie's friend Erika snarks that, oh, that's because she's black, and Cat gets irked because she thinks Erika's playing the race card (and really, I got nothing to add -- doesn't it seem like we've had this exact same dinner conversation about three times already? When is someone going to hurry up and crash a White House dinner, for crying out loud?) Cat and Paul talk outside, and she complains that everyone thinks she's racist.
Oh, and then Tareq starts talking again, and he's resurrected the other boring dinner-table debate we keep having -- the one about Michaele's weight. "She gained at least twenty pounds in beautiful places after we met. Some people make fun of Michaele being thin, but she gained weight after marrying Mr. Salahi here!... She'll eat a whole filet mignon, a whole chicken breast!" Lynda tells the camera that Tareq is being defensive. Cat tells Jason about the Salahis turning up "in this horrible white limo" at the last awkward dinner party. Tareq brags that he knows his wedding anniversary date: "Am I a good husband?" Lynda says something about how Michaele should unload her husband, and suddenly our exciting hour has come to a close.

Preview: A lot of grape stomping! And sour glances. And, omg, it turns out the Salahis crashed the Congressional Black Caucus gala? (Whatever -- this is totally old news... The Salahis: Walking spoiler alerts.)
Who won this round? Let's give it to Mary. No one else came across particularly well, and I'm beginning to think that Mary might be in on the joke. We know her daughter Meghan is.
