Bravo Not Involved With Salahi RHODC Premiere Party

From The Washington Post.

By: Roxanne Roberts & Amy Argetsinger
It wouldn't be a season of "Real Housewives" without a social disgrace or two, a little cocktail party condemnation of some kind, would it? It's happening in real life, with Bravo denouncing an event, thrown by a pal of Tareq and Michaele Salahi, that claimed to be the "official" premiere party for the new D.C.-based season.

Jamie Windon
Several of the 'Wives were upset to see their images used in the fliers for the party at EFN Lounge, which they say they're not attending. And on Friday, Bravo released a statement Friday declaring that the EFN party -- with ticket prices from $25 to $500 -- is not an official event at all.

"NBC Universal and Bravo have not sanctioned and are not involved," in the nightclub promotion, the statement said. "Any assertions otherwise are false."

Howard Cromwell, promoter of the EFN party and proprietor of something called "D.C.'s Most Fabulous Magazine" (don't worry, we hadn't heard of it either), told us that he had amended his marketing materials in compliance with Bravo's demands. His Web site still promises that his party will be "hosted by Michaele Salahi"; the two have worked together on other events, including the Salahis' controversial America's Polo Cup. Will she be there? Who knows, but Bravo says all five Housewives will be at the real official premiere party, Thursday night at the Madison hotel. Don't try to buy tickets though -- it's invitation-only.

Caroline-RHONJ Deposed In Maher Lawsuit

Article from NJ.com

Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger
“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Caroline Manzo has been deposed in a $5 million defamation lawsuit filed against Danielle Staub by Staub's ex-husband Kevin Maher.

“Caroline Manzo saw Danielle Staub for who she truly is right off the bat and never gave Danielle the opportunity to hurt her like the rest of the housewives did,” Maher says via email, “therefore we felt that Caroline’s testimony would be impartial and the most valued in these proceedings.”

Maher sued Staub last year after his ex-wife told media outlets that Maher raped her and continually beat her, which Maher has denied. Her relationship to Maher and her criminal past came out during the show’s first season, when Manzo dug up a copy of “Cop Without a Badge,” about Maher’s journey from ex-con to confidential informant; his relationship with Staub, whom he describes as a "coke whore," is a small but very entertaining part of the book.

Also aiding Maher in his lawsuit: Steve Zalewski, whom Staub sued last year over his purported attempt to leak a sex tape (Zalewski returned fire on Staub last month, alleging defamation and harassment), and Daniel Aguilar, a onetime drug drealer with whom Staub was arrested in a kidnapping and drugs scheme. Aguilar spent 15 years in prison after Staub cooperated with authorities in the case, and recently phoned up the reality show star to ask for the $100,000 he paid to bail her out of jail all those years ago, RadarOnline reports. Staub then called police to claim Aguilar is stalking her, says Aguilar, who soon got a call from a detective about the incident.

Maher plans to file another defamation suit against Staub within the next week about her memoir, “The Naked Truth,” in which she further details their allegedly abusive relationship.

Staub's lawyer Bob Cherry had no comment, not even to say whether he was representing Staub in this matter or not.

Teresa-RHONJ In Bronxville To Sign "Skinny Italian"

Article from Bronxville-Eastchester Patch.

Hundreds Turn Out to Meet Real Housewives of NJ Star in
Teresa Giudice signed copies of her cookbook Skinny Italian at Enchanté on Tuesday night

By Nicole Scarmeas

About 300 fans stood in line outside Enchanté in Bronxville on Tuesday night to meet Teresa Giudice, one of the stars of Bravo's Real Housewives of New Jersey, who was on hand to sign her cookbook, Skinny Italian.

Of those, some 150 had made reservations—which required a minimum purchase of $75—ahead of time, while the rest did so before going into the shop. Allowing about 30 people in at a time, some fans were outside until 9:30 p.m.

Giudice, a mother of four, is probably best known for the table-flipping incident last season, which earned the show some of its highest ratings. Recently, reports have centered around the Jersey native and her husband, Joe's, bankruptcy filing.

But on Tuesday, fans didn't seem to care about the reality star's money troubles.

"She's just so cool," said Julius Michael, a hairstylist in White Plains. As he got his book personalized by Giudice, she said, "I like your name."

And Angela Pellegrino of Yonkers said she loves Giudice because, "She's so gorgeous!"

The cookbook, which hit shelves in May, features about 60 recipes for making Italian dishes and offers various stay-thin tips. Since it's release, Giudice has been on a book signing tour, visiting clothing stores, jewelry shops, restaurants, spas, and bookstores throughout the tri-state area.

And even though filming of the show resumes at the end of August, Giudice is already booked for signings in Las Vegas this September and Kentucky in September/October.

With cooking for her family as inspiration, Guidice began penning the cookbook in November 2009. "I loved everything about writing it. I always wanted to write a cookbook. I loved going through my mother's recipes, the juicy bites from Joe, and I think my personality comes out in it. I just loved every part," she said. "I get emails from fans telling me that their kids used to be picky eaters, and now they're not. I find that inspiring."

Jessica Ganz, the manager of Enchanté, who organized the event, met Giudice last month during a signing at Limoncello restaurant in Mamaroneck.

"We love her. I'm overwhelmed, proud, excited. The goal was to bring in customers and make sure everyone has a good time, and that's what's happening," she said. Ganz also got companies like Bliss and Smashbox to provide gifts with a purchase of $75.

With their reservation, guests were could purchase the cookbook at $10, and for those who made a $100 purchase, the book was free.

Jessica R., of Manhattan attended the event with her mother, Holly. "It's sort of a train wreck, but I can't help but watch. These are real people, and they're more interesting than you'd think," she said of the show.

"She's our favorite," gushed Alex and Victoria of Rockland County and New Rochelle, after getting their books signed by Giudice. "She was way nicer than what we expected."

Alex and Victoria said they love watching the show for the drama, while Renee Rosen, a research analyst in Manhattan, watches the show as a cultural critic.

"It's beyond a reality genre," Rosen said, "The show exemplifies real life in terms of social demographics. It's survival of the fittest. In the California show, they have the blond hair and silicone in their bodies. In New York, the women are more matriarchal and aggressive. In New Jersey, there's an alpha male, the kind of man women wanted in the 80s and 90s, but now isn't needed. It's a culture that's dying."

An undeniable presence, Giudice was laid-back and lively at the event.

"She'll sign anything you want," a woman who'd just had her book signed told a group of people waiting in line outside.

Slade/Jill/Bobby With Patti

judith regan, patti stanger, slade,jill,bobby
Maybe Gretchen Rossi is too smart to be photographed with this bunch. Patti Stanger posted this to twitter last night from a dinner with fellow Bethenny Frankel hater Jill Zarin. Can you imagine the conversation at this dinner…would have loved to be a fly on the wall. Bethenny this, Bethenny that, as Slade absorbs it all…to take back to Gretchen.

Gretchen Rossi seems to be trying the “balls to the wall” agenda that propelled Bethenny to such success. Of course, you would have to be able to do more than put your initials on a variety of products, but that’s just details to Gretchen, I’m sure. Slade and Gretchen are currently flying to Minnesota to tape ShopNBC for her segment.

In other news, Gretchen Rossi’s internet stalker and consummate liar Tweetmaxine is saying Jill Zarin will be on “Bethenny Getting Married? tonight. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Kandi-RHOA Writes "Closet Freak"

Post from Rolling Out.

By: Yvette Caslin
Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss has done it again. The Grammy Award-winning songwriter has penned a surefire hit single with her new song, “Closet Freak,” which blends pop and techno. Lawrence Washington, Atlanta’s own version of Lady Gaga, premiered it during a captivating three-minute performance at Aurum Lounge in Midtown Atlanta on Thursday, July 29.

The Atlanta housewives made one of their first public appearances together this summer to support the hair stylist and salon owner whose stage name is Miss Washington. In the “RHOA” series, Washington made cameo appearances as veteran housewife Sherée Whitfield’s personal hair stylist.

Noticeably absent was the rumored-to-be-ousted housewife Lisa Wu Hartwell, who, ironically, has a clothing line with the same name as Washington’s single. Housewives’ NeNe Leakes, newcomer Phaedra Parks, Kim Zolciak and a fashionably late Whitfield were full of life as they sat front row when Washington, preceded by long-limbed backup dancers, sashayed onto the platform in couture noir attire.

Aurum Lounge was definitely no place to be shocked by men wearing sky-high heels and heavy makeup. The lyrics in “Closet Freak” resonated with many of the partygoers because its message conveys freedom of expression and embracing one’s eccentricities.

“I am so thankful to Kandi, who wrote this song, it means so much [to me]. As you know the title of the song is ‘Closet Freak’ but you also know that I am not in the closet by any means, I believe in being true to who you are and living out your purpose,” Washington said passionately. He went on to thank his parents, who were present, and his sponsors Belvedere Vodka, Jane Carter Solution, a natural hair care product, and others.

It’s hard to say whether Miss Washington has any plans to give up his curling irons and straightening combs to go on a world tour, but he definitely has the chops and sexual energy to be an entertainment phenomenon.

The Real Housewives And Fashion

Article From The Washington Post.

Fashion takes a leading role in 'The Real Housewives' franchise
By Robin Givhan

The "Real Housewives" franchise, that juggernaut of gossip, gluttony and Botox, incorporates fashion as a kind of gallivanting character -- a constantly striving, ostentatious, insecure troublemaker who believes there's no such thing as too much cleavage.

During each show's opening montage, the smiling Housewives pose and preen in front of a voyeuristic camera. Wardrobe favorites include jewel-tone dresses in shiny, shiny satin or, for the more demure ladies, georgette frocks with low-cut decolletage. More often than not, said dresses appear to be at least one size too small.
The RHOBH

The point of this introductory shot is not to establish the women as fashion savants. No, no. The manner in which they position their hands on their hips, shimmy and toss their hair makes them look more tarty than tasteful. In some openings, the women will have their heads tilted back in a rather haughty manner while they perch with formal posture on an armchair. The resulting statement is: Here sits imperiousness that's ready to pop.

With the likelihood of inappropriate behavior thus established, let the hair-pulling -- or weave-wrenching -- ensue. Fashion is a weapon, a distraction, a power play from Atlanta to New York.

In more than one version of "The Real Housewives," fashion provides an outlet for the women's entrepreneurial interests. Fashion is the perfect occupation for the Housewives, whose job it is to look good, stir up trouble and engage in the kind of consumer gluttony that transforms a shopping trip into a day-long affair that requires breaks for sustenance.

Few other industries have so captured the public's imagination as a fertile ground for money, glamour and, sadly, catty behavior. The fashion industry fascinates because it is charged with attaching a dollar value to physical attractiveness. How crass! It also allows for an open and loving display of material goods. A housewife can inventory her collection of shoes and have it cast as research for a possible fashion line.

The RHODC
The Housewives of Atlanta and New Jersey, in particular, are expert consumers. The cameras don't highlight their discerning eye but rather their voracious appetites. They are hungry to define themselves, yearning to be noticed and starving for status for themselves and their families. Their fashion consumption delivers that message succinctly, so that the one-hour dramas do not have to waste time with characters offering long self-analysis.

Get a load of that disastrous "She by Shereé" line! Why does Kim wear such flamboyant platinum Dolly Parton wigs? Why is Teresa obsessed with dressing her children up like designer Barbie dolls? Clothes and hair sum up the misleading, uncomfortable and insecure way in which the women navigate their world more eloquently than any on-camera confessional ever could.

In New York, the fashion connections are more direct and more substantial. The city is, after all, the center of the American fashion industry. Having access to fashion is not especially rarefied. Practically everyone in Manhattan knows someone who knows someone who can alert them to a "friends and family" sample sale or get them into a fashion show in some dank warehouse. In New York, fashion is part of the city's language. Television boils that language down to the basest cliches, but it doesn't lessen fashion's ability to communicate.

Housewife Kelly Killoren Bensimon is an erstwhile model, a former wife of a fashion editor and the author of several style-related picture books. She also displays the tart tongue and the explosive personality that are part of the fashion-insider stereotype. You hate her from the moment she says hello.

Jill Zarin once hosted a luncheon and trunk show featuring the New York designer Zang Toi -- a man who has been known to wear hot pants to business appointments. The event was an opportunity for Jill -- the Housewives are all about first-name intimacy -- to discuss the socioeconomic dynamics of the buy-it-at-full-price trunk show. Only the moneyed matter in a social sphere where everyone has some kind of access to designer attire. It's not just about what you're wearing, but how you got it.

And, of course, there is Alex McCord and her husband, Simon van Kampen, for whom a shopping excursion is like a trip to the Museum of Modern Art with two of the world's most pretentious and emotive art history majors.

Even now, as the franchise turns its sights on D.C., a city defined by politics, policy and the intelligentsia, fashion maintains its leading role. Housewife Lynda Erkiletian owns T.H.E. Artist Agency, and Bravo has provided the gloriously evocative tidbit that Mary Amons uses a biometric fingerprint scanner on her closet door to protect its contents from her children. That detail alone is fodder for a season's worth of pop-psychology analysis.

And do we even need to mention Michaele Salahi and her red sari-like extravaganza seen around the world? That single get-up has become shorthand for narcissism, scandal and a mind-boggling ability to float through life in a private bubble of make-believe.

The RHONJ
The Housewives couldn't exist without fashion. From a purely aesthetic point of view, fashion provides eye candy: a steady stream of bright colors, shiny fabrics, big furs, big hair, big cleavage, high heels and long extensions. After all, these aren't just any Housewives -- these are fabulously glamorous ones. (Note: No one is pitching "The Real Housewives of Gary.")

Fashion is also the Housewives' worst frenemy, serving to belittle them at every opportunity. They try so hard to frame fashion as business, as just reward for all their hard work, as charitable tool, as art. But ultimately their efforts are unconvincing and viewers are left with the impression that the women are wholly defined by self-indulgence, materialism and showmanship.

The RHONY
It will be interesting to see if Washington, a city that is often characterized as being all work and no fun, a place where people take themselves too seriously to cut loose and flip over tables, will be able to stand up to the effects of fashion in its most tawdry form. The smart money says no because in reality TV, the most superficial elements thrive -- not the most thoughtful or complex ones.

Fashion can be serious business with a far-reaching cultural impact. But in the glare of the Housewives spotlight, in the midst of a hair-pulling match, the only thing anyone notices is who's wearing the best -- or worst -- dress.

Danielle's B-Day Party With Her Girls

Post from Hollywood Life.com.

EXCLUSIVE! We’ve Got Pics Of Danielle Staub’s Very Private 48th Surprise Birthday Bash! She Even Got A Louboutin Cake!

BFFs, today is Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub’s birthday! The mom of two gave HollywoodLife.com an inside look into her very private surprise birthday party!
Gift from Danielle's Daughters

Everybody wish Danielle Staub a very happy birthday! The mom of two turned 48 years old today, July 29, and we must say she looks great! Instead of a massive soirée with tons of guests, the reality star opted to spend her birthday with her family and girlfriend, Lori Michaels. They surprised her with an intimate family party at the very swanky Eric Alt Salon in Upper Saddle River, NJ, once the store was closed.

“It was a private affair,” says Danielle. “Last night, my girls surprised me with a Louboutin birthday cake [above] and I couldn’t believe it!”

This is the second year in a row that Danielle had a designer b-day cake from master cake artist Buddy Valastro, star of TLC’s Cake Boss!

“My youngest daughter Jillian is the one who called the Cake Boss, who made it for me,” says Danielle. “She just took my cell phone and called him, it was so sweet.”

Her two daughters, Christine, 16, and Jillian, 12, didn’t stop there — they splurged and got their mom a beautiful pair of Chanel sunglasses!

“I love the glasses!” exclaimed Danielle. “Even thought my happiness is based on love and not material items I’m so blessed to have two amazing daughters who are extremely thoughtful and generous!”
Cake Made By TLC's Cake Boss

Danielle is spending her big day relaxing at home, but did tell HollywoodLife.com that Lori is going to take her out for a romantic dinner.

But in case you’re disappointed that Danielle didn’t have a massive birthday bash, get ready, because she’s planning a HUGE post-birthday party!

“It’ll be very public,” says Danielle. “Noelle Ashman [NYC nightclub owner] is helping me throw it and it’ll be big. Lori and I will be performing a club version of our song “Real Close.” It’ll be in the next couple of weeks … very soon.”

Teresa-RHONJ Wants To Be On Dancing With The Stars

Post from Examiner.com.

'Dancing with the Stars' -- is hit dancing competition getting New Jersey housewife Teresa Giudice?
BY:TV Examiner Katrina K Wheeler

The star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa Giudice is considering starring on the next season of the hit dancing competition, Dancing with the Stars. She would not be the first reality star to try her luck on the show, and according to a recent update via her official Twitter account, she is seriously considering a possible future for herself on the show.

Giudice writes to her 80,000 fans: "I am thinking about doing 'Dancing with the Stars' though. What do you guys think? xx"

Giudice has gained a lot of fans through her role on the hit TV reality show, Real Housewives of New Jersey, and there is no doubt that they would be interested to see her try her luck on the dancing show. There has been no word on whether Giudice has any dancing experience, but as the past has indicated, experience need not be a requirement to excel and make it into the finals on the show.

What do you think -- would you like to see the housewife make an appearance on the competition?

Steve Files A Lawsuit Against Danielle-RHONJ

From The Daily Record.

Photo: Bravo

By ELIZBETH SAUCHELLI
A lawsuit was filed in Morris County against "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Danielle Staub by her former boyfriend Stephen Zalewski, who accuses Staub of making false statements that he "recorded her in sexual acts without her knowledge or consent."

"There's an episode that aired amount a month ago where, essentially, Danielle is telling a bunch of people that Steve had made tapes of her engaging in various sexual activities without her knowledge or consent," said Zalewski's attorney Nace Naumoski. "All the tapes were made with her knowledge and her consent. Most of the tapes were made by her and sent to him."

Staub's attorney, Bob Cherry, declined to comment.

Zalewski said he began dating Staub in May 2008. Their relationship ended in December 2008, before Staub appeared on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" in Spring 2009.

Naumoski said that Zalewski, a Lincoln Park resident, has video messages and e-mails that Staub sent to him.

"She knows perfectly well that he did not make the tapes without her knowledge or consent," Naumoski said. "When and if the case the goes to trial we'll be able to prove that she made statements in the past that she had knowledge of the tapes."

Zalewski is suing Staub for defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, harassment and punitive damages. The case was filed through the Superior Court of New Jersey in Morris County.

"First of all there's the fact that the things that she's saying he did are actually crimes in New Jersey. That's a third degree crime in New Jersey," Naumoski said. "She's essentially calling him a criminal while in reality...she made the tapes."

Zalewski said that the satatements caused harm to his "reputation and well-being." Naumoski said that his client's construction business may have been hurt by Staub's statements.

"I think that as the case goes to trial and proceeds that his business also dropped off by the harm done to his reputation by Ms. Staub's statements," Naumoski said.

In the lawsuit, Zalewski said that during his relationship with Staub, she "recorded herself engaging in various sexual acts by herself and with Plaintiff." Zalewski also claims that Staub sent the videos to him from a cell phone as video messages and e-mails.

Zalewski said once their relationship ended, Staub began telling mutual friends, as well as various media outlets, that he recorded her without her consent. He also said that she made statements on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" about it. In each count of the lawsuit, Zalewski is seeking the award of compensatory damages, punitive damages, cost of suit, attorneys' fees, injuctive relief and "such other relief as the court deems just and equitable."

Danielle-RHONJ An American Idol Judge?

Post from Hollywood Life.com.

Now that the SHOCKING American Idol news is out of the bag, The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub thinks she’s exactly what the Fox reality show needs!

Danielle Staub wants to be your judge America! The New Jersey reality star loves being a housewife, author, mom, and aspiring popstar, but she wants to add one more thing to her list — American Idol judge! We spoke to The Real Housewives of New Jersey star today, July 30, about the shocking news that Ellen DeGeneres quit AI AND that Kara DioGuardi was FIRED. The author of The Naked Truth had a surprising revelation for HollywoodLife.com!

“I would love to be a judge on American Idol,” exclaims Danielle. “I could replace Kara! I’d be the perfect fit!”

We already know Danielle has a “don’t hold back” attitude on her Bravo reality series and this is why she firmly believes she’d bring a lot to the judging table.

“I’ll tell it like it is and you might not like or what what I’m going to say,” says Danielle. “I’m not going to be as gentle as Kara but not as critical as Simon. I’ll come from a real place, this is reality … I will love to give people chances but I’m going to keep it real at all costs. I’ll add an element of surprise and shock for sure!”

Danielle just released her single “Real Close” with well known music producer and girlfriend Lori Michaels, and hopes this will help land the AI gig.

“I’ve learned so much through this process of recording “Real Close”,” she says. “The live performances are exhilarating, I can see why people give up everything just to sing and perform.”

As for Ellen leaving the show, Danielle completely stands behind the newest Idol member, Jennifer Lopez.

“Even though Ellen is one of my favorite people in the entire universe, I think JLo is the suitable fit,” she says. “She’s sexy, hot, and Latina, she can bring that vibe that has been lacking, she’ll bring a whole new element to American Idol.”

Danielle is set to appear on Ryan Seacret’s radio show, August 2, so maybe she can convince the Idol host to make her dreams a reality!

Lisa Wu Hartwell And Bravo Parted Amicably

Post from Reality TV World.

Lisa Wu Hartwell confirms 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' departure
By Reality TV World staff
Lisa Wu Hartwell has confirmed that she will be leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta during the Bravo reality series' upcoming third season.

"She doesn't want to just be a reality star," her publicist Carlos Scott told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday, adding that Hartwell and the network have mutually decided not to reveal any additional details about her third-season involvement.

Hartwell has recently produced a fitness DVD and landed acting roles on Meet the Browns and an upcoming Robert Downey Jr. film, according to Scott. In addition, she also appears in Black Ball, an upcoming film, and recently released "When The Cake Is Already Made," her first book.

Bravo renewed The Real Housewives of Atlanta in January and announced Hartwell, Kim Zolciak, Kandi Burruss, NeNe Leakes, and Sheree Whitfield would all be returning for the third season -- which began filming this spring and will premiere later this year -- in early March, but reports of Hartwell's departure have circulated since shortly after Bravo's announcement.

In late March, Jonathan Jaxson, Zolciak's former publicist, said entertainment attorney Phaedra Parks would be joining the show and Hartwell would be leaving because she lives 40 minutes outside of Atlanta, which had apparently become a problem for the show's production.

However, according to a Tuesday report on AOL's Black Voices website, Hartwell parted with Bravo "amicably" due to "creative differences."

"They basically wanted to script elements of Lisa's life and make her amp up the drama. She wasn't with that at all. Lisa felt like if her real life alone wasn't enough for the network, then maybe it was time for her to go," a source close the production told the website.

Hartwell will reportedly be part of "as many as three" episodes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta's third season but will not be included in the season's opening credits or promotional photos.

"The part where the ladies hold the peaches when the show opens up, she didn't participate in that shoot," the Black Voices source said.

In addition to Parks, former model Cynthia Bailey has also been previously reported to be joining the show's third season.

Hartwell -- who is married to NFL player Ed Hartwell and the ex-wife of R&B singer Keith Sweat -- is the second The Real Housewives of Atlanta star to leave the show.

Last year, DeShawn Snow didn't return for the reality show's second season after the network allegedly concluded she was too boring for TV.

"[A producer] said that I was 'too human for a circus show' and that because the show did so well, they are about to pump up the drama and they didn't think that I would fit in," Snow said at the time. Snow was subsequently replaced by Burruss.

Stacie Turner Hopes To Bring Attention To Her Charity On The RHODC

Q&A from Express Night Out.

Breathlessly waiting for Bravo's Aug. 5 debut of "The Real Housewives of Washington D.C."? Then you know who not to root for (battery-acid blond state dinner crasher Michaele Salahi) when the catfight starts. You may even realize that one star (Brit Catherine Ommanney) snogged Prince Harry. But D.C.'s "Wives" offers something rarer than a quiet moment from Bethenny Frankel: a genuinely nice heroine in Stacie Turner, a real estate agent and charity fixture. So, what's she's doing with these publicity, um, hounds?

» EXPRESS: Why'd you sign up to do this?

» TURNER: I was leery! I couldn't imagine my life being on display. But I thought it'd bring visibility to my business and charity [foster-care assistance program Extra-Ordinary Life].

» EXPRESS: What's the D.C. social scene like?

» TURNER: Here, we have politics, which doesn't have a role in the other shows. Also, D.C. is diverse, and has international flair and a racial mix. The city has really taken off in the past couple of years.

» EXPRESS: You seem to have nice friends already. What happened when you brought these women around?

» TURNER: It just expanded the circle. That's one of the cool things about D.C. There are just so many circles you can move in and out of.

» EXPRESS: Including the White House?

» TURNER: There's a misconception that the show revolves around the Salahis and the White House. People will see drama because we go interesting places and have unusual experiences.

» EXPRESS: So there's no Barack-spotting on the show?

» TURNER: No, but you'll see his influence. The Obamas have made the White House cool. It helps to have a fashionable first lady.

» EXPRESS: But Michelle doesn't seem to shop in D.C.! You do. Any fave boutiques?

» TURNER: I love Hu's Wear (2906 M St. NW; 202-342-2020) — just everything there, plus the shoe store across the street [Hu's Shoes, 3005 M St. NW; 202-342-0202]. I also like to shop in Baltimore at Vasarri (1636 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville; 410-415-6333). It's in the middle of a strip mall, but it has awesome cocktail clothes.

» EXPRESS: What about restaurants?

» TURNER: Ben's Chili Bowl is one of my hangouts (1213 U St. NW; 202-667-0909). I also like Oya (777 9th St. NW; 202-393-1400) because I love sushi, and it has a sexy bar.

» EXPRESS: As a real estate agent, you must know what the new hot D.C. neighborhood is. Where should I buy a condo?

» TURNER: The hottest place right now is NoMa, like the H Street NE corridor between 11th and 13th streets. They're going to get a trolley car system, and it's going to be a cool extension of Capitol Hill.

» EXPRESS: What about your own house?

» TURNER: My husband and I love to renovate houses, and our house used to be a church. It was a complete hovel, but now it's cool.

Lauri's-RHOOC Son Gets 90 Days In Jail

Post from Chicago Now.

By: jenn sale
Yeah... you don't want to piss of the judge. They tend to throw the book at you when you do. Don't get released on your own recognizance, then fail to show up for a hearing.

So over last weekend it was reported that Josh Waring, troubled son of former OC housewife Lauri Waring -Peterson, was picked up on a probation violation regarding a domestic violence conviction he received last year. He was held without bond until he saw a judge Tuesday.

According to the Orange County Circuit Clerk (look at me being investigative journalist!), Waring plead guilty to one count of violating a term of his probation and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, and 3 years of probation.

Wow.

Waring had recently completed 30 days in the slammer for possession.

No comment from Lauri, but obviously this kid is on his own, because court documents state he's had a public defender appointed in almost all of his criminal cases. Lauri is said to be in NYC with fellow OC castmates Lynn Curtin and Gretchen Rossi as Rossi prepares to release a new handbag line at a flea market in Soho Shop NBC. There is a buzz from a few reliable sources (NOT Tweetmaxine, puh-lease) that Lauri has signed a limited filming contract with daughter Ashley for this season to help her daughter's fledgling acting career.

I though Ashley had a skincare line? What about the OC Air Angels?

Anyway, back to Josh. He'll probably have to serve most of his sentence, unlike Lindsay Lohan because that's how they do it in the OC on probation violations. Hopefully this will be the wake up call he needs to turn his life around. Maybe his mom will at least send him a little cash to buy some chips off the commissary when she gets back.

Kelly Training For Her Marathon

Star of Real Housewives of NYC brings a taste of the Big Apple to the Chicago Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon.

The Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Killoren Bensimon may be better known for racking up tabloid headlines than racking up miles, but that’s not stopping her from hitting the streets of the Windy City this weekend for the Rock ‘n‘Roll Chicago Half Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society. And who better to guide her through some pre-race prep than fellow New Yorkers—and professional triathletes—Laurel and Rebeccah Wassner?

The trio met in Central Park just days before Bensimon toes the line on Sunday as part of a star-studded celebrity lineup (Giuliana Rancic of E! News and former Bachelor Jake Pavelka, amongst others, are also slated to run). The 42-year-old model and writer gleaned tips from the Wassner twins, which touched on everything from when to eat a gel pack (“about halfway through,” advised Rebeccah) to finish line poses (Laurel suggested to “make sure to finish with a smile.”)

After taking her through their typical pre-race drills, the Wassners led Bensimon on a three-mile loop of the park, dodging photographers eager to snap a shot of the paparazzi-magnet. The chatty, chipper mom of two spoke of her excitement about returning to her home state (she grew up in Rockford, Ill.) as well as her hopes to inspire her fans—including 40,000 followers on Twitter—to get off the couch, turn off the TV, and get running.

“Just 20 minutes of fresh air clears my thoughts, makes my problems seem more manageable, and life more fun,” she said. “I want to motivate other people to just put on their sneakers and go.”

Speaking of fun, Bensimon plans to have lots of it on Sunday, despite getting a late jump on training (“I only started about three weeks ago,” she admitted, “but I went out for a nine-miler last week and it felt great.). And she’s confident she’ll have no problem reaching the finish line on Sunday.

“It’ll be the easiest 13 miles I’ve ever ran,” said Bensimon. “Running in a race that benefits a charity is an incredible experience. Anytime you do something for someone else, you feel better.”

The RHODC Are Getting Attention

Post from Zap2It.

By Jay Bobbin
Thanks to a couple's alleged White House party crashing, awareness of a new series was huge long before its debut.

However, Bravo wants it known -- as do the purported crashers, not surprisingly -- that "The Real Housewives of DC" is about other women besides Michaele Salahi. The latest entry in the "Real Housewives" franchise premieres Thursday, Aug. 5, and it takes some time for it to get to the much-reported incident at Washington's 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. (which didn't happen until filming was nearly completed).

Photo:Bravo
After so much time being linked to the show without any of it ready to be seen, self-proclaimed "hugger" Salahi says she and her husband, Tareq, are "really excited for the whole world to see it, and to show the nation's capital and the great diversity in these five women. We're all very strong, different personalities … and I'm excited for people just to see who I am.

"There's been a lot of miscommunication, and the media has had fun with how they want us to be, but I know Bravo will highlight the way I really am."

And yes, four other D.C. "Housewives" also get big attention in the series. They are Mary Schmidt Amons, a charity event organizer and the granddaughter of media legend Arthur Godfrey; modeling agency chief Lynda Erkiletian; Catherine Ashley Ommanney, a British interior designer and ex-flame of Prince Harry who separated from her husband after the "Real Housewives" episodes were shot; and real estate agent Stacie Scott Turner.

"I'm one of those people who kind of tells it like it is," Turner claims. "If you ask my friends, that's what they'll say about me, so if I'm portrayed that way, great!"

As with the other new "Housewives," Turner inevitably tells it like it is about the Salahis, at least from her standpoint: "They're very nice people, and I don't want to pass judgment on what they did, but that's just part of their reality. They really believe they were invited to that event, so that's part of their life, and that's what the show portrays."

Bravo programming executive Andy Cohen -- also the host of the network's program "Watch What Happens Live" -- maintains there was no thought of eliminating Salahi from "The Real Housewives of DC" after the White House controversy erupted, in large part because so much footage of her already was in the can.

"It was my fantasy that we would have housewives fighting about politics," he explains, "and certainly, that's one of the things that comes up in the show. The other theme that brought us to Washington was the idea that social clout is measured there not by money but by proximity to political power. Little did we realize how much we would be on that theme with the incident last November."

Danielle's Opinion of Caroline and Jill Hanging Out

Post from Hollywood Life.

Photo:Getty
If Danielle knows one thing, it’s the importance of being real! The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is tired of everyone pretending to be BFFs, especially Jill and Caroline!

Danielle Staub tells it like it is! We asked Danielle what she thought about the budding friendship between The Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin and New Jersey star Caroline Manzo, and let’s just say Danielle made her point in just a few words.

“I guess congrats are in order?!” Danielle told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “I want Jill to be happy and have good people surrounding her. Jill is amazing and has always been very kind to me and has reached out to me on several occassions in good and bad times … we’ve shared a lot.”

We broke the news that Jill and Caroline were partying together in the Hamptons on July 24 at London Jewelers for the Brittny Gastineau Tres Glam trunk show.

“Caroline and Jill were inseparable,” says our insider. “Dina [Manzo] had rented a house for the entire week, but her big sis Caroline opted to stay with Jill!”

We were shocked to hear about the new friendship and needless to say so was Danielle!

“I had no idea they spoke but congratulations,” says Danielle. “Jill is actually very wonderful.”

Bethenny's Blog On Being A Mom

Bethenny's last blog for People on motherhood.

Photo: Brian Doben
Thanks to Bethenny Frankel — best-selling author, creator of the Skinnygirl Margarita and star of both The Real Housewives of New York City and Bethenny Getting Married? — for sharing the highs and lows of motherhood with us this month.

In her final blog for PEOPLE Moms & Babies, the reality star – who is mom to 11-week-old daughter Bryn Casey with husband Jason Hoppy – tells us what she’s learned in her first few months as a parent.

Hey PEOPLE people!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read about the daily moments in my life. Marriage and motherhood have been such incredible gifts that it has been so easy to share with you. Plus, I learn so much from your questions, comments and opinions and value every minute of it all.
Truthfully, Jason and I had absolutely no clue about what to do with our daughter Bryn when we brought her home. The baby nurse was a godsend because she really taught us everything we needed to know.

Every day there are new things to learn, but the “Dos and Don’ts” have changed since we were babies, i.e. putting a baby on their stomach and safety pins in diapers. Still, for all you new moms, here are a few lessons I did learn…

THE ESSENTIALS: At first Bryn’s nursery was bare, but little did I know that a baby could sleep in a shoebox if necessary. They do nothing but poop and sleep! So a bassinet was all we needed at first. (You don’t need a crib for several weeks.) Eventually, the nursery was all put together and is so beautiful (thanks to Bellini — they were so helpful!!).

The only essential thing a new parent needs is a place to change the baby’s diapers. We used a shelf to change her for a few weeks. Don’t stress on that.

BREASTFEEDING: Bryn now sleeps for 4-hour intervals (6 if we’re lucky), and I have been breastfeeding. That has been the greatest challenge and reward. It is something you don’t have to be extreme about and don’t need to be pressured about either. However, it’s very healthy and a gift that only you can give your baby. I would have regretted not doing it.

PETS: The idea of integrating our dog Cookie into Bryn’s life and vice versa was overwhelming and anxiety-producing even just to think about. I had a feeling Cookie would be good about it, and indeed she has been great. She has been so calm and gentle with Bryn. However, she has been hyper vigilant with everyone else though, which presents a new problem. It never ends does it?

All in all, I’ve never been happier. Jason and I love our little family and are grateful for that every day. It really made us the people we were meant to be yet didn’t know we could be.

Xo,

– Bethenny Frankel
