Michaele & Tareq's Blog

Post from Michaele and Tareq's blog.

By TMS
In Episode 4, we were excited to be part of the opening of a new salon in Maryland for Ted Gibson. We were approached by Ted Gibson Salon to sponsor this grand opening of his new salon. Our winery gets asked very often to donate wine to various charity events, in order for venues to not incur costs. Our winery was proud to be supportive to Mr. Gibson. We were happy to invite our friends and clients to support his new salon as well. Ted & I had worked together on a fashion show prior to and had fun! So this was something I thought would be nice to support him.

Lynda Erk. came up to me and pinched my fanny at Teds opening, and I was nice, as I am to everyone. This was the first time I had seen Lynda since she attempted last April to sabotage my fashion show at the America’s Polo Cup that was held successful in May 2009. You see in this episode Lynda say " I Love You" to me , and I say it back - I think that was her way of saying I am sorry is all I can guess. In April 2009 Lynda went out of her way to call the models that I had arranged to walk the runway for the America’s Polo Cup fashion show and threatened them not to do the show or they would be disciplined with no work for awhile by her agency, as the models told me. Good Grief! Really sad that someone works that hard at being destructive to someone else. Some modeled anyway for my show fearless of what she would do to them to support me and the community.
The night of the show they said "we love you and don't know what Lynda Erk. will do to us, but we are here for you girl!"

Lynda had also called many vendors and sponsors and told them not to participate. I was very disappointed in Lynda's behavior to purposely sabotage another event and also hurt me. I decided to be gracious, move forward, and still invite her out to the vineyard for the I Love Lucy grape stomp!

On the ride to the winery we heard Mary obsess about me. Mary tells us she doesn't have any bad words about me, nor does she judge anyone. We hear this in her own words in the show. Yet we hear Mary contradict herself in this episode and talk of me as a "social climber" using wine to build my social status.

Be real and honest is all I ask from anyone. Don't act one way to my face and another behind my back. If you don't like someone be real. To judge someone because they worked as a make up artist is really sad. I was very good at helping women with style back then, inclding Mary Amons and would do it all over again. Jason Turner's reaction to Mary in the limo on her comment about me is priceless on this ! He made me smile and laugh. Such a great spirit to him. Fun! Thank You Jason!

Here is a "shout out" to all the hard working girls out there - no matter what your career be proud. Don't let anyone judge you or make fun of who you are or where you are from or what your career is! Love to You!

Jason Backe and Ted Gibson came to me at Mary's Birthday party and really wanted to come to the Congressional Black Caucus fundraiser with President Obama & First Lady Michelle Obama. They asked if I could help them attend because it was their dream to see the President of the United States in person. I phoned our entertainment attorney, Paul Gardner, who had invited us. Our attorney stated he was able to also get them tickets to attend as his guests. The night was fun with a little drama by Bravo style… more to tell on this soon!

It has become obvious that Jason Backe enjoys acting, or he is just a compulsive liar. His story of the events at the Park party last episode and now during the evening of the Congressional Black Caucus are a complete fabrication, even though it was somewhat entertaining to listen to. Bottom line – Jason Backe lied. At no time did the Secret Service escort us out of the Congressional Black Caucus! It wouldn’t surprise me if the Secret Service comes knocking on his door for making false statements about what the Secret Service actions were that night. Just breakin’ it REAL.

At the winery we had a blast! It was so fun having the Turners & Mary out to the winery during a amazing fall afternoon in the heart of Virginia Wine Country. Everyone remembers that classic moment in “I Love Lucy” when Lucy started grape stomping with her barefeet. We do these wine tours and grape stomps for a lot of our customers and private corporate groups. So I arranged this great afternoon evening with them to stomp grapes, eat dinner downstairs in the winery. It was a blast!

Unfortunately, Cat didn’t want to come out and play! But she loved blowing the whistle! My friend/assistant Jennifer couldn't tolerate any more of Cat's rudeness that day and mimicking me . When I said "Give Love" to help Cat be nice and try to help change her mood to an upbeat style, Cat made fun of me. Jen had enough of her making fun of me. Jen is very real and doesn't tolerate any mean spirit or negative energy. Love her.

During our wine tasting dinner catered by PF Changs China Bistro in the barrel room of the winey, Mary kept asking Tareq what he had to say. She kept pushing to find out. Tareq was staying quiet and finally tells her. Information that we had unfortunately discovered by the authorities is what was on his mind. Let me first refresh your memory, when Mary tells us all, her daughter has problems with taking things without permission. Hence the fingerprint coded door lock on Marys closet to keep her daughter out. We learned that Marys daughter, Lolly was aware of items stolen from my husband & his team, that included a automobile, and thousands of dollars of polo gear equipment. The facts on this case are undisputed, and the authorities had in fact issued arrest warrants on Sean Wehrly, one of Lollys friends. The show producers said since it was a part of what was happening right then in our life to share it and thought it would be better that we inform Mary our self, instead of Mary hearing from the authorities. More to come on this.......... all Tareq asks for is an apology.

Tareq, Mary and Jason really enjoyed the wines and were feeling great! I was the only sober one at the end of the night! But had just as much fun! If you are interested in learning more about Oasis Winery and our wines, check out: http://www.oasiswine.com/ . We plan to reopen the winery, based on the outcome of a Trial in Fauquier County Virginia on September 20th where Tareqs mother is sadly now suing her own husband Dirgham who is very ill.

My natural instinct is to always trust & love everyone… however I again learned that it’s important to be careful who to trust.

"Give Love" !

Love & Cheers!

Danielle Talks To Fancast About The RH,Lori And Her Future

Article from Fancast.

Danielle Staub Likens NJ ‘Housewives’ To Zoo Animals, Teases Reunion Surprise
by Sean Evans

Danielle Staub has become a household name as a result of her wild behavior on the ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey.’ Drama seems to follow the mother of two where ever she goes, yet Staub insists her life is rather normal and wants the public to see that real side of her. Fancast talked to Staub via phone about the status of her mental health, how Bravo supplied armed security for the reunion show (part one airs next Monday), what she’d like her spin-off TV show to entail, and her entrée into the world of singing.

There’s a lot of talk about your mental health in public and in the media. What do your friends say about that?
I’ll embrace my crazy any day and own up to rather than hide behind other people’s problems and point fingers. Look, crazy knows crazy. As far as my mental health is concerned, I’m perfectly fine. I love who I am, and I don’t give a sh*t what other people say. Just don’t spell my name wrong.
Photo: Bravo

What do you have to say to all the haters who call you crazy?
Keep hating me. Love me or hate me, you’re still talking about me. It’s the haters that make you famous. The lovers keep me warm at night.

Sanity aside, you get into more than a few altercations on camera. Are the fights we see on the air real? Or is there a producer in the corner egging you guys on?
Oh, come on. These are big girls. [My castmates] sit and talk about me constantly. Even their husbands do the same. They’re a bunch of grown up bullies who don’t have lives so they are obsessed with mine. I wish they’d leave me alone. I was only near them three times this season. That’s it. That part was a necessity. I only brought their names up when I’d get a text or an email or I was attacked and had to go to court. They’re going to call me crazy because all they do is obsess with me. One of their Bravo blogs mentioned me 87 times. In one blog!

What do you think of the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise as a whole?
It’s wonderful. It’s a great opportunity for everyone. Some people recognize that and broaden their horizons as a result. For the people that don’t get caught up in it, it’s wonderful. If you start helping other people with the platform you’ve been given, like I have, then you get it. My castmates missed the mark. I didn’t.

What do you think of the other city’s casts? Ever watch any of their shows?
No, I do not. I don’t have time to.

Do you watch your own show?
Somewhat. I get a DVD delivered to me two days after each one of our episodes airs. I watch it the following Monday before the new show goes on at 10 pm. I blog about what I saw and I put it away in a safe deposit box, just in case anyone breaks in. [Laughs.] But I don’t spend hours watching myself or the show. I’m already onto the next thing.

Do you like what you see?
Not particularly. Not because I’m ashamed of how I’m portrayed. It’s that I don’t like to see people attacking someone. It’s not because it’s me. Sure, in this instance, it’s happening to me on camera. But [these attacks] are happening to people everywhere. It’s not pretty. People tell me I look mean and stressed out. Why wouldn’t you be in that situation? People have questions about why would I press charges [after the country club confrontation]. If it were you, would you drop the charges if you were attacked? If you were chased by what amounts to animals from a zoo left with their cages unlocked and they haven’t been given their piece of beef yet? They were going after me in a country club. That’s very real. Let it be you and see how much you spend your time defending yourself.

Given all that, how stressful was filming the reunion show?
That was taped in Atlantic City three weeks ago, and it was pretty stressful but, surprisingly, it was more stressful for [the rest of the cast]. When one chooses truth and displays decorum and is honest, one has nothing to worry about when sitting amongst those who’ve hid behind their own misery. I think everything will be displayed as it should be and everyone will be shown as being who they really are.

Did you worry about your safety during the reunion? Did you bring bodyguards to set?
Shockingly, I didn’t have to. Bravo actually hired armed security. You can call them police or whatever, but they had real guns. What made me feel safe was being able to bring along a friend.

Who was that?
It’ll be a surprise. I’m not allowed to say who it is. I can just say everyone will know who it is and understand who it is. It’s the biggest surprise of the reunion.

How upset were you when Bravo let you know that you wouldn’t be participating in season three?
There hasn’t been any discussion with me. I don’t know if that’s a done deal yet. I’m just trying to get through this. I’m very busy with my music, and with my memoir out (’The Naked Truth’). Sorry I didn’t write a cookbook, but I do cook. My memoir is doing well. My song is getting new remixes. Yesterday, I did my TV debut of my song, ‘Real Close,’ with choreographed dancers and it went viral. I’m very proud of my music and I have a new song on the way. There’s so much more to come with me. I have a lot of people approaching me with offers.

If you weren’t asked back, how do you think the show will fare without you as an integral part of it?
It would be like watching beige paint dry. Either you love me or you hate me, but you always want to watch me.

There’s talk of you getting your own spin-off. Would you ever want to do that?
Absolutely. I think that I’m interesting enough that I could carry my own show. It’d be the real me and it’d be about my music, my daughter being a super model, my assistants, my interns and my relationship with my music producer [and girlfriend Lori Michaels]. My littlest daughter is being produced and managed by Lori as well, and has her own song coming out, so we’d show that. Right now, I’m collaborating with very big names in the music industry, so I’d show that. I want it to be all about the team surrounding me, supporting me. I call them Danielle’s Mafia, so that’s what I’d call the show.

You’re saying you’re working with top music people. Who would be your top three collaborations that you’d die to see come to fruition?
I wouldn’t die for nobody, first of all. To be able to musically have an opportunity to work with three artists, that’s a tough question. If I leave someone out, I shoot myself in the foot. I’ve spoken to a few top people and been approached by a few mainstream artists. I’m just taking it for what it is, and whatever comes my way will be my dream collaborations. Anything music is the best route for me to go. I love all types of music.

Can you tell us who’s approached you?
You’ll have to wait and see!

Will you be touring and playing local venues with your new music?
We will be touring very soon. We’re booking as we speak. I have four different remixes on the song, so we’ll be bringing a great show to everyone. Our schedule can be found on my website http://www.danielle-staub.com/

Finally, what do you have to say to all the people who say your new relationship with Lori Michaels isn’t real? That you’re only doing this for the shock value?
[Laughs] Oh, I don’t know. Why don’t you ask Lori? [Staub hands the phone off and another woman’s voice comes on.]
This is Lori. To anyone who thinks what we have isn’t real, I only have one thing to say: If it’s not then why would I be here, sitting right next to Danielle at this hour? [Ed. Note: it was 9:55am.] The fact that she’s sitting beside me this early in the morning proves that we’re genuine.

The RH Helps Local Businesses Flourish

Post from NJ.com.

The Record
Some people watch "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" for the fights. Some watch it for the fashion. And a growing number of North Jersey businesses watch it to see it to see if they received any airtime.

Photo: Michael Karas
Kim DePaola, Posche boutique owner, said 'people were coming into the store in droves' after the fashion show episode. They're the real businesses of North Jersey, the restaurants, doctor's offices and retail stores that are supporting cast members on Bravo's hit reality show.

Just as the housewives vie to get the most air time each week, North Jersey businesses are angling for a chance to reach a national audience of more than 3 million viewers per episode, as well as fans around the world.

"I have friends [with businesses] calling me up saying, 'You've got to film here. You've got to film here,' " said Albert Manzo, husband of "Housewives'' star Caroline Manzo, and an owner of the business featured most prominently on the show, The Brownstone banquet hall in Paterson. "Everyone wants to be on."
For the businesses that make it on the show — the places where the housewives and their families are seen eating, shopping or having parties — the potential reward is great. They reap the kind of TV time that would cost millions if it was a paid commercial. But public relations experts warn there are risks as well as rewards when businesses enlist reality shows to boost their bottom line.

"You should be familiar with the show first," said Stan Steinreich, head of a public relations agency with offices in Hackensack, Washington, D.C., Tel Aviv and other cities. His firm is increasingly using reality TV placements along with more mainstream media to promote clients. But, Steinreich said, "I don't believe all publicity is good." Sometimes, he said, "it's a far better thing to say, 'No, we'll pass.' "
The North Jersey Country Club wishes it had said no when Bravo asked in November if it could film during the now-infamous fashion show that ended in a physical confrontation between dueling cast members.

"Being somewhat naïve, and not aware of the true nature of the TV show, permission was granted," club manager John Stanley explained in a letter to members, in which he said the "Housewives'' cast and crew are no longer welcome. The club, "clearly made a mistake in signing the release," wrote Stanley. Reached by telephone, Stanley did not want to comment on the letter, but confirmed its contents.

But for most of the businesses that have appeared on the show, the experience has been positive. When the housewives visit a restaurant, the name of the eatery usually is shown first, in an establishing shot. Some of the restaurants won air time because the housewives really do eat there. Positano Restaurant in Wayne, for example, has been serving meals and takeout food to Danielle Staub, Caroline Manzo and other cast members before they were reality stars.

Other businesses offered their locations to Bravo in exchange for publicity. The Westin Hotel offered a hotel room and room-service meal that Bravo decided to use to portray housewife Teresa Giudice and husband Joe's 10th-anniversary celebration. The hotel did, however, request in advance that there would be no table flipping, please, a publicist for the hotel said.

Bravo declined to comment on arrangements with the businesses that appear on the show, but a spokeswoman denied that any scenes were staged.

"The show is absolutely not scripted, you can't make that kind of stuff up,'' she said.
Albert Manzo said his family wasn't looking for publicity for The Brownstone when they made the decision to appear on the show. Rather, he said, the program was viewed as a fun job for Caroline, who was facing an empty nest.
However, the show has turned out to be a publicity bonanza, said Manzo. The show, he said, has helped create a national reputation for The Brownstone. The banquet facility already was booked at capacity before the show, so it hasn't really brought in more event business. But the Manzos are hoping to use The Brownstone's new fame to launch their brand of tomato sauce.
"If you have a little bit of an aura about you because of a certain thing, like a television show, people are going to give you at least a try," Manzo said.

Kim DePaola, owner of the Posche boutique in Wayne featured in several key episodes, said the show has boosted sales on her ShopPosche website to fans all over the world. "We had a customer from Australia that bought something," DePaola said. "Who's going to know about ShopPosche in Australia" without the show, she asked.

DePaola hosted the fashion show at the North Jersey Country Club that ended with housewife hysterics, hair-pulling and assault charges. The day after the episode aired last month, "people were coming into the store in droves," she said. Many of her new customers are curiosity seekers, interested more in taking a picture with DePaola than trying on or buying clothes. But "they all buy at least a T-shirt" — shirts decorated with the Posche name that sell for $38 to $42. A year ago, she said, summer Saturdays were slow, with sometimes as few as two customers all day. "Now," she said, "Saturdays are insane."

DePaola has been rumored to be in the running to be a regular cast member on the show, but she said such a move might not be in her best interests as a store owner. "There are lots of things that the show kind of wants you to do that are good TV, but not good for me as a businesswoman, so it's a Catch-22," she said, referring to the show's fondness for drama.

The only downsides thus far have been visits from obsessed fans, and a visit from the local authorities who informed her that she could no longer serve mimosas to the TV housewives and other shoppers.

A real North Jersey business was responsible for bringing the New Jersey housewives together in the first place. Victor Castro, owner of the Chateau, The Art of Beauty salon in Franklin Lakes, learned Bravo was scouting the neighborhood for housewives and said he knew some good candidates. He invited eight women to a meet-and-greet with Bravo at the salon.

Like The Brownstone owners, Castro is hoping the show will enable him to launch a new product — a line of hair products called Chateau Mediterranean. Certain plot developments that he is not at liberty to discuss could give the Chateau more air time in the third season, a development that would greatly help the debut of a product. Bravo has not yet confirmed that there will be a new season.

Dr. Ramtin Kassir, a facial plastic surgeon at the Mona Lisa Cosmetic Surgery Center that has offices in Wayne, Ridgewood and New York City, also is hoping for some more air time in the third season.

Kassir was the first doctor housewife Danielle Staub consulted on air about her breast implant reconstruction. Kassir referred Staub to Dr. Michael Fiorillo, who performed the surgery. Kassir is the surgeon who gave cast member Ashley Holmes, daughter of housewife Jacqueline Laurita, her new nose. The operation was filmed by Bravo, but didn't air during this season. It may be featured in the third season, if the "new Ashley" becomes a theme of the show.
Both doctors have seen an increase in new clients after appearing on the show this summer. "We've had two to four new patients a week who have come in solely because of that episode," Kassir said. Fiorillo has gotten more hits on his website and been contacted by women from out-of-state, including Las Vegas showgirls unhappy with their implants, as a result of the June 21 episode.

Staub's breast reconstruction was performed by Fiorillo at a discounted rate in return for the TV exposure. Kassir said he "comped" or offered free of charge, certain services for Holmes, Laurita and other cast members in the expectation that they would be part of the show.

Offering services for free or at a reduced rate is often part of the reality deal. "Reality TV is so hot right now, and viewership numbers are so high," that offering free services in return for air time is a good deal for many businesses, said Steinreich.

When a reality star or show receives something for free, there also is less chance they will criticize the product or service, Steinreich said. "These shows are predicated on getting a lot of free stuff," he said. "If they're going to be panning something, no one's going to want to participate."
"I don't believe all exposure is good," he said. "But there's no doubt the whole reality TV segment is one of the hottest media segments today, and if you're not looking at that and exploring options for your product then you're missing out."

Reality check:
How to succeed in business on a reality TV show? Publicists and North Jersey business owners who’ve had their 15 minutes (and more) of reality-show fame share these tips to keep in mind if cable network Bravo or any "Real Housewives" come calling:

* Know the show before you agree to filming. Appearing in a show where the first season has not yet aired is risky, because you don’t know how outrageous the producers plan to make the show.

* Free reality TV publicity usually isn’t free. You will be expected to provide services free of charge in exchange for TV airtime.

* Savvy businesses can negotiate how their business will be portrayed on the show and what will be filmed. But there is no "off the record" in reality TV once the cameras start rolling.
* Many scenes involve multiple staged takes, so a three-minute scene can involve hours of shooting. And there is no guarantee your scenes will make it on the show.

*Best way to get your business on "Real Housewives"? Don’t call Bravo. Become best friends with one of the "Real Housewives."

The RHONY Want More Money

Post from Page Six of the NY Post.

The "Real Housewives of New York City" won't sell out on the cheap. While the cast has been asked back for Season 4, they won't commit to Bravo unless they get "Jersey Shore"-style contracts.
"The ladies are upset because they are making a lot less than Snooki [who earns $30,000 per episode on MTV]. They've got a lot more to say," a source close to the Housewives told us.
An insider says the New York cast members -- including Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon and Alex McCord -- are making the same as their "Real Housewives of New Jersey" counterparts at around $4,000 an episode and "they have little choice but to pimp themselves out with side gigs to bump up their earnings."

"It's a full-time job without the full-time pay," a second source says. "That's why a reality star with any sense does a book line or jewelry line to support being on the show."

An insider says the Housewives are exploring other options before they re-sign.

Zarin was spotted this week with a fleet of camera crews while filming Animal Planet's "It's Me or the Dog" with Victoria Stilwell and was asked by an onlooker if she was going back to "Housewives." According to our witness, Zarin shouted, "I'm not back," suggesting she might be holding out for a better deal. Her rep had no comment.

On the other hand, Bensimon said she was flattered to be asked back. "Let's be honest, being on a show that Bravo produces provides a lot of other opportunities," she told us. "They gave me a huge career at 42."

A rep for McCord wouldn't confirm that she's pursuing other options, but noted she recently signed with the celebrity division of New York Model Management. "We receive great offers for Alex and [husband] Simon van Kempen all the time, but we cannot comment on Bravo," McCord's rep said.

A rep for Bravo had no comment. Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan didn't get back to us and neither did reps for LuAnn de Lesseps and Bethenny Frankel.
