New Avenues Have Opened Up For Lori
Article from NJ.com

“It definitely felt like an overnight whirlwind, but I signed up for this a long time ago,” says the 37-year-old artist.
“I may not be as young as the Miley Cyruses out there, but I’ve learned how to hone my sound and embrace the business side of music, and how to constantly develop my talent. So this has happened suddenly, but I feel like I’ve been building toward this moment for a long, long time.”
Michaels, who lives in Bergen County, grew up in Fairview.
She trained professionally at Broadway Dance Center in New York and was a soloist in her local church choir. She later graduated from New York University, where her major was pre-law.
She is president of the nonprofit Reach Out, still leading the volunteer community service organization she started in high school more than 20 years ago. Some of her projects include H.E.R.O. (Help Everyone Reach Out — raising awareness and funds for breast cancer), A.N.G.E.L. (Awakening New Generations Enhancing Lives — an initiative promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention) and Dance for Health (encouraging communities to get involved in positive, healthy activities).
“I’m an alt artist, and I wanted to package something a little bit differently than what was out there for the GLBT audience,” she says.
“Typically, you would see mostly lesbian artists who were singer-songwriters taking to the stage with their guitars. There was nothing like a Pussycat Dolls show, which is exactly what ‘Me & the Girls’ set out to be.
“And I’ve been told by many people that what I assembled and orchestrated changed the rules of the game a little bit at pride festivals and clubs for professional GLBT entertainment across the country.”
As Michaels performed the show, she made a name for herself as a kinetic, fiery performer and a singer with a rich, deep, sultry tone.
At a much-publicized 2008 “coming out” party at the House of Blues in Atlantic City (“coming out” referred to the launch of her company, Lori Michaels Productions), “Me & the Girls” achieved a new level of attention.
And not long after the Atlantic City bash, she released her first album, “Living My Life Out Loud,” via Reform Records.
The Staub connection began last summer, Michaels says, when she met the New Jersey “real housewife” backstage at New York City’s Nokia Theatre following a benefit concert.
“I gave her my CD, and then we met very randomly again at a diner in New Jersey, and I was surprised that she remembered me.”
A year later, “Real Close” is reality, as is the constant speculation about the nature of their relationship.
“I would like to keep my private life private, and I guess that’s the hardest part to get used to,” Michaels says about the gossip surrounding her and Staub.
“I’m pretty secure in what’s going on between us behind the scenes, but when you look at People magazine and Us Weekly and all the major publications, I think it’s always a fine line between entertainment and reality.
“She’s on an entertainment show, I’m a singer-songwriter pulled into that through another aspect of the TV world. But I don’t think anyone has any right to invade my private life.”
Michaels says she’s more focused on building excitement at clubs and festivals around her hit new single, “Rebound,” a collaboration with disc jockey and producer Giuseppe D. In late July, the song hit the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart at No. 44, and was featured on iTunes top 20 dance tracks.
She says it’s been a wild and unpredictable two years since her coming out party.
“I’ve been taking risks all along, and once again everyone thought I was crazy to go and debut that song (“Real Close”) with such a simple arrangement on national TV. But then it caught fire, and we heard that the following Monday, Ryan Seacrest was promoting the song on his radio show, and we were suddenly on everyone’s radar.
“I very quickly realized that this was my chance to put forth all that I have in the hopes that something sticks with people. And the opportunities that are now out there for me, as a producer, a singer, a songwriter, have already changed my life.”

Music remained a hobby for Michaels while she ran Reach Out and taught dance. Then in 2006, she created the hit stage show “Me & the Girls,” a production that filled what she believed was a void in the gay entertainment scene.

It was at dinner, Michaels recalls, that she befriended the entire Staub family, meeting Staub’s 12-year-old daughter, Jillian, who also is interested in music. Michaels says she invited the preteen to check out her recording studio and soon after, Danielle approached the musician with the idea of co-producing a song.
A year later, “Real Close” is reality, as is the constant speculation about the nature of their relationship.
“I would like to keep my private life private, and I guess that’s the hardest part to get used to,” Michaels says about the gossip surrounding her and Staub.

Kim G. Pays For Herself
Post from Page Six of The NY Post.
According to sources, Kim always pays the full $550 coloring fee, and tips large when she visits the salon.
Kim Granatelle, a k a "Kim G" of "The Real Houswives of New Jersey," pays good money for her grooming, but she doesn't believe the other Housewives do. While getting her blond locks touched up at the Oscar Blandi salon, Kim was overheard telling colorist Kyle White how some of the other Housewives don't feel they should have to pay for their services, resulting in "bad hair, overdone Botox and square breasts."

Tamra Shops At Pink Ice
Article and from Pink Ice Blog.
Hey everyone it’s Genna! Many of you know me as a hair/makeup artist, but I also am the manager of one of our Orange County locations – Pinkywear – in Laguna Niguel, CA. Orange County is famous for being featured on shows such as “Laguna Beach”, “The O.C.”, and most popular, “The Real Housewives of Orange County”. It’s funny whenever I go to a different city or state, people immediately ask when they hear I’m from Orange County, “Do you know any of them from the shows?” It’s quite hilarious when I am asked that because behind all the lights and cameras is a real, family city, where real (well, maybe not real when you’re talking cosmetically), down to earth people live. Seeing celebrities in this town is a normal occurrence, and people rarely get starstruck easily. Even when I go to LA where I am bound to see a celebrity sitting at the table next to me, I’m not the type to barge into their leisure time by bombarding them with questions or asking for their signature or a photo. Maybe I’m a little too modest? Or maybe I just feel like they get enough of that already so when their trying to enjoy their time relaxing, I leave it alone.
So you can imagine how I felt when I saw Tamra Barney from “The Real Housewives of Orange County” standing outside my store when I got there yesterday morning.
Even though she was wearing sunglasses, I had a hunch it was her. It’s funny how a TV show can skew your opinion about someone’s character, without even really meeting them or getting the chance to talk to them. But I don’t go off of stereotypes, I’d much rather hear straight from the source.
Right when she came in, she went straight for the sunglasses rack and picked out these super trendy “Tortoise Rhine Sunglasses”:
I then helped Tamra find a brown wool fedora hat which she had said her friend bought from us and she loved, because of it’s short brim. I agreed with her, and jokingly told her that some fedoras look like Peter Pan hats hahaha. Here’s a similar one on our website, “Ribbon Slick Fedora” :
Tamra quietly kept to herself like any other customer would. From the show, you’d think she’s a diva – but I did not get that impression at all. She browsed our shoe section and picked out our newest pair of fall heels that definitely suited her, our “Buckle Plat Heels”:
I got her a fitting room and she was so sweet the whole time. I even asked her a few times while she was in the fitting room, “How’s everything going? Can I get you any other sizes in anything?” and she said, “Nope! I’m great!” WOW! Totally not a diva. When she had finished trying everything on, she needed help finding a tank to wear under this awesome studded vest she wanted to buy:
Since the vest is so embellished, we both agreed that something a little more understated and comfortable would be best since she’s a mom on the go. So she decided one two different options that would both work great under the vest: Our “Simply Tank” in white, with a racer back cut is versatile and form fitting:
And our “Basic Cami” in nude:
Tamra also bought this awesome “FDL Tag Necklace” with a fleur-de-lis design on it. It’s so her!
She bought this flowy, floral patterned “Hawaiian Ruffle Dress” for an upcoming talk show appearance:
I love Tamra’s style, it rocks! I couldn’t help but stare at her as I was ringing her up. She probably thought I was weird hahaha. I then did something so totally out of my comfort zone….I asked if she was indeed Tamra Barney from “The Real Housewives of Orange County”, in which she smiled and responded “Yes”. It was so not like me to ask such a favor, but I knew all our fans would be so excited to see a pic of her shopping at our stores, so I asked her if I could take a photo on my phone. She was so cool and allowed me to take a photo “in the new sunglasses I just bought, cuz I look like crap” (which she didn’t – she always looks AMAZING and even more gorgeous in person!), but I agreed. BUT TO MY DISMAY, of course when I need my cameraphone to work, IT DOESN’T WORK! I don’t even know what was wrong with it, but it wouldnt let me take a photo. Soo embarrassing! Tamra was so sweet and offered to take it on her phone, and she would text it to me. I snapped the shot, and gave her my number but she had to get going to a conference call. After she left, I never got the picture message and I was so bummed, but determined to retrieve it from her.
I was on a mission like a crazy stalker fan (though I am NOT!) and posted on her facebook fan page and her website contact form in hopes of obtaining that sacred photo for you all! I thought all hope was lost as I received a “message send failure” email from her website host, and I was among 53,000 facebook fans. But to my surprise, the REAL TAMRA added me on facebook a few hours later, and was so sweet enough to email the photo to me!
She even told me to keep her posted on any new cute stuff we get in stock. WOW! Such an awesome woman, gorgeous inside and out, loves her kids – what more could you ask for? Even despite her nasty and public divorce, she is down to earth, loves her fans, and cares about people. Can’t wait for the new season to air!!!

Cindy Is A Self-Made Business Women
Article from Starcasm.net
By: Asa Hawks
Meet the newest addition to the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City, Cindy Barshop!
Cindy is the Long-Island-born owner and founder of Completely Bare, a very hip and VERY successful medi-spa that first opened its doors on Madison Avenue in 1998. Barshop wanted to provide a hair removal service in a friendlier, more comfortable and less medical environment while at the same time remaining on the cutting edge of hair removal technology. In an online Q&A with readers of BeautyStat.com, Cindy says, “I was probably one of the first to open a medispa on Madison Avenue that specializes in laser hair removal.”
Her concept was almost literally an overnight success as word spread rapidly that if you wanted to be bare “down there” there was only one place to go, and that one place was Completely Bare!
The business-savvy Barshop, a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing, has capitalized on her successful concept and now there is no longer only one place to go, there are five to choose from! Completely Bare opened its second location in 2000 in Scarsdale, New York and followed that up with three more medi-spas on Fifth Avenue, in Barneys and even one in Palm Beach Florida in 2002, 2003 and 2006.
In addition to word of mouth, Completely Bare has received numerous accolades from the media with the first major one being named “Best Hair Removal Spa” by Allure magazine. Cindy recently made numerous headlines in the blogosphere after actress Jennifer Love Hewitt mentioned she was a fan of Vajazzling, a phrase coined by and process pioneered by Barshop and Completely Bare. Here’s a video from BeChicMag.com in which Barshop talks about the phenomenon and even vajazzles the reporter! (Also included is the Jennifer Love Hewitt vajazzle clip from Lopez Tonight that started all the hubbub (pubebub?) in the first place.)
Cindy, along with fellow Completely Bare employees (and hotties!) Jackie and Michelle, also went on the Howard Stern Show to explain hair removal techniques and vajazzling to him and Robin Quivers:
But don’t think for a second that Completely Bare only removes hair and jewels jayjays! They also offer facials, tanning, microdermabrasion, teeth-whitening and skin-tightening treatments. Need proof? Just ask Pauly D and The Situation from Jersey Shore, who stopped in to completely bare for an Access Hollywood segment back in January. Here’s what Cindy had to say about the experience:
Last week, completely bare spa hosted DJ Pauly D and Mike the “Situation” from MTV’s Jersey Shore for an Access Hollywood segment and OMG we had the BEST TIME EVER! These guys were a blast to be around while we pampered them with laser hair removal (because obviously they are hair-free to show off those muscles!), completely bare BBL pulse light facials for sun damage (too many times in the tanning salon beds guys – BOOO!!), and last but not least the “ST” as in our completely bare sculpted spray tan (DEF more safe than those UV rays.
Say what you will about the Jersey Shore boys, but they are sleeeeeek!

The latest big thing for Completely Bare is Vattooing, which I’m sure I don’t need to explain! (The Completely Bare Facebook page spells it “Vatooing” but it just didn’t seem right without that extra “t” in there.) I’m sure there are already Vegas odds on which of the Big Apple housewives will get vajazzled, vattooed, neither or both! (My money is on Mrs. Zarin for both, and from then on all Bravo fans will call it vaJilling. “Did you hear? Kim Zolciak got vaJilled too!”)
I don’t know about you, but I am super excited about having Cindy join the cast! Drama mama trophy wives are fun and you couldn’t have the Real Housewives franchise without them, but I really enjoy watching the self-made business women the most! They always seem to have a down-to-earth practical understanding of things that only makes crazy Kelly Bensimoments that much more entertaining!
And she looks and sounds SO New york – I LOVE IT! When does the season start?!? Is there anyway we could rush it and just boot the DC show, at least until it is expunged of Salahis?
Another thing about Cindy Barshop that should make things interesting on the show is that she is the proud mother of twin daughters! Born just last year, their names are Zoe and Jesse. You can see photos of the lil Barbarshops over on Facebook, but be sure to get your “Awwwwwwwwwwww!” face ready! (No word if their pacifiers are “pajazzled.”)
Danielle's Range Rover Repossessed
Post from Life & Style Magazine.
Looks like Teresa Giudice isn't the only member of the Real Housewives of New Jersey facing some serious monetary problems. Life & Style has exclusively learned that at approximately 11am EST this morning, Danielle Staub's Range Rover was repossessed from the house where she has been staying.
"You should have seen the begging," an eyewitness tells Life & Style. "Danielle pleaded with the repo guys but they had their job to do, and they did it."
It's been a struggle for Danielle ever since the court took control of her final checks earned from Bravo's hit series The Real Housewives of New Jersey. She fell behind on her car payments and has been left penniless.
