Last season on The Real Housewives of New York City, fans cringed while Alex McCord subjected herself to a beach photo shoot by costar Kelly Bensimon, who came unhinged during a getaway to “Scary Island.” “That photo shoot was probably the only time I was ever really uncomfortable at a shoot,” McCord says of working with Bensimon as her photographer in the Virgin Islands.
Now, McCord, who blogs weekly for PEOPLE about The Real Housewives of Washington D.C., is more comfortably back in front of the camera, thanks to a new deal with the celebrity division of New York Model Management. “I’ve since had the chance to shoot with some fantastic photographers…I’m very happy with the results,” she says. McCord describes her personal style as “eclectic,” which won’t come as a surprise to style fans, who’ve seen her in everything from Roberto Cavalli to a FEED-bag dress. “I love to mix things up and do ruffles one day, tailored another and then maybe buttoned up the next,” she says, adding that for fall she’s picked up “a military three-quarter length jacket from Walter that I love” and “a great turtleneck knit dress from Rolando Santana.” So what does husband Simon van Kempen and her sons, Johan and François, think of Mom’s makeover? “Simon is very proud of me, and the boys think I look very glam.”
