The Real Housewives of D.C. stars are working with investigative reporter Diane Dimond to write a new book they claim will provide "behind-the-scenes" details on what happened when they were accused of attending a White House state dinner last November for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh without an invitation, The New York Post reported Thursday.

In addition, Dimond said the book will "reveal the truth" of who the Salahis "really are."

"It just never added up to me that someone could sneak in -- past the [security] perimeter, no less!," Dimond told The Post.

"As I began to investigate, I realized the Salahis' story is much bigger than what's been reported."

While the couple left the dinner before the guests were seated, they managed to have contact with both President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden during their time at the event.

The Secret Service acknowledged its personnel did not follow proper procedures to ensure the Salahis were on the guest list, however the couple the denied crashing the dinner.

The Salahis were subsequently the subject of a federal investigation and were subpoenaed to testify at a January hearing in front of the House Homeland Security Committee, however they invoked their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

Dimond told The Post the Salahi's account of what took place has "genuine intrigue" with twists that "can be traced right back to the White House." The book is currently being shopped to publishers with agent Sharlene Martin.
